So where is everyone getting these ideas of what the FRQs are going to be?

Dude, youre awesome

Can anyone go through a discussion on what the European Union is? My textbook and my teacher only briefly mentioned it, and I don’t really know what it is, but it sounds important.

Thank you for giving me some practice in organizing my ideas in the post-WWII era. Here you go. :)

EU: formerly the European Economic Community, or the EEC
Also formerly known as the Common Market

Some describe it as a “tariff union” based on free trade and the free movement of labor, services, capital, etc. among member nations.

It has, however, expanded from an organization concerning economic matters to an organization concerning environmental issues, diplomacy, etc. as well.

Two important treaties that you must know:

Treaty of Rome: allowed the creation of the EEC

Treaty of Maastricht (1992): conversion of EEC into EU, as well as the introduction of the idea of a common currency (the euro)

The U.K. was the loudest in voicing its opposition to the euro, as it still retains the pound to this day.

Current issue: the controversy over whether the EU should admit Turkey, a nation with a large Muslim population, but an economy that some have deemed potentially beneficial should it gain accession

This is the book I use: [Amazon.com: Best Test Prep AP European History Exam (REA) The Best Test Prep for the AP European History Exam: 9th Edition (Best Test Preparation for the Advanced Placement Examination) (9780738602899): M. On Collegeboard’s sample MC questions from their course description PDF, I got 32 of 38 right for 84%…but in all of the Best Test Prep MC tests, I get 45-55 right out of 80. Is one unrealistically easy or hard? Which is more like the exam?

Based on your scores, I think BTP is harder.

But I’ve never used it so, truthfully, Idk…

thanks for the EU info- forgot it was also called the EEC, so I can talk about it as either of those, good!

Anyone care to explain enlightened absolutism? Like in Russia at that time and stuff, cause I don’t know a lot about that?

Any knowledgeable art person should go through art, cause that’s my weakest area I think.

Main differences between communism and socialism? I keep getting those confused…

Also, someone here predicted a FRQ on women’s history in some era and the Cold War- in the same set of FRQs, or is it usually separate sets?

“someone here predicted a FRQ on women’s history in some era and the Cold War- in the same set of FRQs, or is it usually separate sets?”

I think it’d be in the same set because women’s history is more modern to me. I hope they’re in the same set because I don’t think I have time to study both.

Btw, once I remembered reading an FRQ that asked students to choose 3 works from the Romanticism period and relate them to political and economic conditions of the time. How on Earth would I relate them to economics? That’s the type of question I’d panic on, if the other two choices happened to prove definitely unfamiliar to me.

I would panic on that type of question too!

And I’ll definitely do Cold War for a Cold War or women’s history question.

For FRQs, it sounds like the 1st set is like 1500-1800ish and 2nd set you pick something from 1800ish on, sound about right? Anyone wanna agree/disagree with that, or correct me on it?

^ Yeah, my heart would just sink there. I guess you could just talk about how during the Romantic period, artists couldn’t rely on patronism like they could during the Renaissance, and how they had to paint pictures that appealed to their customers, who were middle-class people. Something like that.

Anyone have any past years multiple choice?

@iluvpiano Yes, they should be in that time frame, although sometimes it doesn’t feel that way.

Btw, does anyone know what testing conditions are going to be like? Do we fill out paperwork in our test booklets or in separate booklets using our AP stickers? Also, in the break after the MC, can we go to the bathroom or stretch our legs? Sorry, I’m just really excited/nervous about my first AP!!!

Can anyone answer all/some of these questions??? :
Someone brief me on World War I. Like, everything. Also, what are the differences of Khrsuhchev, Gorbachev, Bresnev, and Stalin (sorry for spelling)? Can anyone go through art throughout history? Russian Revolution? Role of women as time progresses in Europe?
Thank you!

registration stuff is first with the answer sheet and AP student pack, stickers, etc. Test: 55 MC in 60 minutes. Then a break for about 10 minutes. then 15 minute reading period, and the rest is 115 minutes for writing the DBQ and the 2 FRQs, with an advised 45 minutes writing the DBQ and 35 for each FRQ, although you can divide that however you like.

please someone go through art history, and the role of women- my textbook and teacher sorta ignored those for the most part- focused on political history, which is the most interesting anyways for AP Euro (and music history of course!).

To regars on the topic of Romanticism and the period, you could always discuss the growing nationalism and revolutions of 1848 (along with the July Revolution of 1830), including the works of individuals like Delacroix’s Liberty Leading the People.

I really, really, really hope there’s an FRQ on the Age of Anxiety! Ah, so nervous for tomorrow!

Guys- Teacher told me that her predictions for FRQs are:
Napoleon, Wiemar Republic, and/or two paintings
KNOW this stuff! PM me if you have any more questions. I’m pretty sure I’m getting a 5. I missed only 13 on the practice test my teacher gave during class and I rock the essays.

Can you explain the weimer republic to me?

Anyone here (or someone’s teacher) have a prediction for the DBQ?
