Haha, I took 3 APs this year (Calc BC - 4/5, Eng Lang - 2, Span Lang - 2), and 1 before (Art History; didn’t take exam because class was cut halfway into the school year and ended up only learning half the curriculum). I feel intimidated by the other users here, which ultimately motivated me to push the boundaries on what I can handle. As a matter of fact, I’m not even sure if I could handle more than 3, so maybe I can.

I’m going to be a Senior this fall, so I think that taking the exam for B is redundant since most colleges don’t accept credit from that particular exam. I only see reason in taking it as a comprehensive exam to see how much you understand the concepts just for personal observation.

While I am only Self studying for AP Calculus AB + getting ahead in Biology

I only decided to go for 6 AP classes because I see how much work people do here.

Class:

I’ll probably self-study World History and Environmental Science in order to get National AP Scholar by junior year.

Sophomores at my school never are allowed to take AP classes. You’ve got to get teacher permission and office permission, based on your grades in that particular subject.

Class:
AP Physics B.

Self Study:
World History. Well, I’m taking a WH class, it’s just Honors, so based on the curriculum, I want to study independently as well and aim for the AP exam.
Art History.

Then I’m thinking of adding either Psychology, Comparative Government, Human Geography or Economics. Or maybe two. Suggestions?

Self-studying: None. It’s against my district’s policy.
Taking: AP US Gov’t.

So glad I found the official thread. David, I’m wondering why your district does that. I need to meet with my district coordinator because I emailed requesting the ability to do 2 self-studies and they seem really hesitant. Never before have I wanted to go above and beyond or even excel in something so it seems really stupid. maybe to like prevent people who are just doing it for the stupid awards but i’d actually really love to learn government and take the exams.

so…
self-study (tentatively):
US & Comparative Government & Politics

class:
calc bc
physics c
us history

I think it’s because most people in my district fail the AP exams even after taking the class.

Like this year out of 733 tests in our district, there were only 160 3’s or higher.

My district is the same (I had a teacher tell me I shouldn’t try since I’d get a 1 or a 2 anyway) and our principal has asked us “Why do you guys need so many APs, anyway?”. It’s not like they can actually stop you though, right? You should be able to take it at some other school, or under the supervision of any willing/qualified adult.
