Official Ap Us History Thread! (: 5/9/08

DID you know that in the KAplan APUSH prep book, it has the full answe to the First FRQ, whch was about Market.

Getting a 5/9 is average. Just basic discussion about the topic with little to no outside info. It is easy to tell that the writer is uncomfortable talking about the topic.

Especially on history, it is easy to get higher scores such as 7+ as long as you are comfortable talking about the topic and you can bring up a lot of info.

fot the dbq

social:draft riots(elaborated on that), red scare(huac, mcarren internal securities)
politics:lost the war, tet offensive
economics:gulf of tonkin, blank check, wasted too much money

was this all

Red scare is 20 years earlier.

politics:lost the war, tet offensive

No mention of the split in the Democratic Party and the issue of Preisdential power.

economics:gulf of tonkin, blank check, wasted too much money

Blank check was a political phrase, not an economic one.

not really. the question in the APUSH kaplan book deals with SOCIAL impact, not the thing that it asked for on the ap test.

The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution can be used as a politcal example as well.

What I think they were really looking for with economic was the decline of "Great Society" because all of all the money used to fund the war.

Would it be okay if for social we talked a lot about the Civil Rights Movement.
Because the Vietnam War and the decade in general made the African Americans more aware that they were being treated with injustice and blahblahblah.

Oh also,
I mentioned Vietnamization in my political paragraph. But now I'm not sure if it fits... haha

even though the redscare was before the effect of communism was still around hence the creation of huac and mcarren internal secruties which were both under truman...

and btw the time of cold war is known as the second red scare according to my teacher's notes

are we allowed to talk about the essays now?

the test itself wasn't really so bad. i omitted about 5 MC and was surprised how the MC section was so nit-picky with details this year! i've taken several prac tests and never have i seen a question on stuff like mcguffey's readers, etc.

DBQ was great! relieved it was about Viet war b/c i have knowledge from my parents and also it was the focus of what we learned just before taking the test.

FRQs werent bad either! i was freaking out because at first, i didnt know what MARKET REVOLUTION meant so i did #4 first and went back to #3 after realizing it was the industrial revolution :)

Pretty sure we can talk about the exam now.

Does remember any questions on the MC section?
I just remember a few I didn't get; if anyone remembers any post and I'll try to recall what I put.

Redwood, its is basically the same as the AP test, because it touches on the North, the South, and The midwest. Read the first paragraph!!

We CANNOT talk about the MC. EVER. lol.

As far as the DBQ, I mentioned:

social:
- anti-war movement and what that entailed.... Kent State, Slaughterhouse-Five, etc.
- Civil Rights Movement (MLK's document)
- LBJ's Great Society

political: this was by far my longest section.
- tet offensive
- election of 1968... assassination of RK, formation of Hawks/Doves
- extension of executive power through the Tonkin Gulf
- Vietnamization, Cambodia, etc.
- War Powers Act

economic:
- "stagflation"
- increased military spending
- strain placed on economy by Great Society welfare programs + war funding

stars i basically used everything you did except i used the pentagon papers as well. i think all that info will definitely get a high score... hopefully

hahah. wow. me too. i used the same thing.
except the dove & hawks
i didn't feel comfortable writing the DBQ though.
everyone taking the APUSH exam were so mad bc our teacher said that free response would NEVER EVER be on Vietnam.

so i probably ended up with like a 5-6, hopefully. crossing fingers

^yea i used basically all that and i added SDC (student for democratic society) and the riots and such

yay i added sds too, only missing 2 things that star_s put in. Im hoping for a 6 or 7 hopefully a 7

Oh and do we really have to wait until july. Is there like any early grade reporting for a fee??? I already cant stand the wait
