Official Best-Book Post

I've had questions in the past as to what the best books for particular subjects are, and have seen them often as well. I think it would be useful to most people if there was a single condensed thread. Soon I'll be wanting to know about Physics, Calc and Chem myself...

In my opinion:
Biology -Cliff's Notes. It's old compared to the Princeton Review, but outclasses it completely. I read it through twice and scored a 5 on the exam.

US History -AMSCO's United States History. Rare book, I had to order it off of the publisher's website. A bit long, too, but engaging and concise. I didn't have it when I took the AP test, but almost two years later I read it before the SAT 2 US History, and scored 800.

Psychology -Barron's. I self-studied the subject last year, and I have to say the test is basically a joke. I read this twice and got a 5.

I used REA for US History, took 3 of the multiple choice practice tests and skimmed over my weak areas for the 2 nights before the test.
Got a 5.

How did you go about studying for Psych? Did you just read the material and get an understanding of concepts, or did you consciously memorize definitions and names?

hi I was wondering whether you only used the Barron's book to study for Psych, or if u used any other books along with the Barron's book. If u only used the Barron's book, is it enough to get a 5?

Physics C- Physics for scientist and engineers by Tipler
Physics B- Physics 6th edition by Cutnell and Johnson, I read this in addition to the class textbook of Contemporary College physics by jones/childers, which has a lot of good problems in it. The Cutnell one gives you info you dont need for the test but it is fun to read, and gives good derivations to formulas.

Looks like several 'book on ___?" posts have popped up after this still. Oh well, still trying.

For psych, I did read along in several chapters of a text book, but to be honest Barron's alone is at least enough for a 4, likely even a 5. I just asked the school's psych teacher to lend me a book on the side.
