**Official Boston College Transfer Thread 2010**

I currently go to George Washington University, and I’m applying to Georgetown SFS for this Fall. If it doesn’t work out I’ll apply for BC for Spring 2011.

I’m starting to grow impatient. This wait is driving me nuts… I haven’t been able to think all day.

Just another week to go . . . breathe . . . . breathe!!!

What is everyone’s GPA at their current University?

Would any of those looking to transfer out of NU be willing to share what you don’t like about the school and your reasons for leaving? My youngest is currently a junior and NU is one of her top choice schools. Thank you.

Hi Kelly,
I just finished my freshman year at Northeastern. While it is a great school, it is not a traditional college in many ways, which is what I didn’t like. When I say traditional college, I mean big grassy quads, residential, tight-knit community, a lot of school spirit, etc. Northeastern is very unique with the co-op program and everything, but this makes for a student body that I felt was very disjointed. At any given time, thousands of students are working on co-op and many are in cities other than Boston. Northeastern could never really feel like home. Another aspect that factors into that is that fact that it isn’t really a residential campus. After freshman year, a lot of students live off campus.
I also didn’t like being right in the city…I like the suburbs better and at BC I can still get into Boston really easily.
Like I said, Northeastern is a great school. Some of the things that I mentioned as negatives could be seen as positives by other students. It just wasn’t the college experience that I was looking for.

Thank you for your detailed response jetsfan. Your reasons make a lot of sense, and I’m going to pass your post on to my daughter.

Best of luck to you in getting accepted to BC. My oldest daughter is a junior there and loves it.

Do you guys think I have a chance at Boston College CAS? I wonder what kind of applicants make up that 9% who get accepted.

Where do see that it’s a 9% acceptance rate?
I see 21%

Are you that’s not the university’s overall transfer acceptance rate? I read somewhere that the transfer acceptance rate for CAS is usually around 9%

Hey I am applying to BC (Carroll School of Management) currently a freshman at a cc in southern california, also applying to Northeastern as well with a plethora of other schools as well. Kinda makes me nervous how you all are transferring out of NU since that was like my second or third choice.

CAS is the easiest school to get into at Boston College, simply for the fact that it has the most majors and therefore accepts the most students. A 9% acceptance rate may be true for the carrol school of management, or maybe the school of nursing, but according to the transfer statistics on the Boston College website ([At A Glance - 2005 / 2004 - Boston College](http://www.bc.edu/admission/undergrad/transfer/ataglance.html)) for the 2008-2009 school year, about 21% of transfers were accepted.

•Average college G.P.A. for accepted students: 3.58

•Average SAT for accepted students: 1937 (2400 point scale)

•Average ACT for accepted students: 28

This was also for the class that applied two years ago, but I can’t see the numbers being very much different. :)

Thanks for clearing that up PaulaDanielle. I received a bit of misinformation, because I clearly remember someone saying that CAS has the highest retention rate at BC and consequently has a 9% transfer acceptance rate.
So do you think they’ve made transfer decisions already? Will they wait for Spring grades? Because I have a 4.0 GPA this semester, but I can’t get the transcript to Boston College before May 7th. I’m really worried because I don’t want to get rejected because of that B- in Gen. Chem. (why oh why did I take that class… )

I received an email from the office of admissions that said that the decisions will be sent May 10th.

Will decisions be made available online? I know that Cornell is only mailing their decisions so I was wondering if BC was going to do the same. I just saw the Caroll school admission statistic and I’m seriously freaking out now.

I highly doubt I’m getting in, but just curious: what are everyone’s stats??

Also how much do you think Spring semester grades will factor into the decision?

@meppie Are you transferring as a sophomore?

they made decisions on april 27 and are just finishing up course evaluations before sending out the letters. so i would say that the mid-term spring semester grades were considered but not final grades.

Good luck everyone!
