Hello, Hopefully there isnt too many of us as Rice only has about 50 slots for transfer students. If accepted I will be transferring from Lone Star Community College. If not accepted I will likely transfer to A&M, which thankfully isnt a horrible second option.

I cannot wait to hear back from Rice. I’m nervous. But anyways, I’m transferring from Kilgore Community College, and if I don’t get in, just like bmrepete, I’ll likely find myself at Texas A&M. Based upon when freshman got their decisions, I don’t think we’ll hear back until around mid May.

I’m attempting to transfer to Rice from the University of Texas at Dallas. I assume we will probably hear some sort of decision no later than May 15th. Also, bmrepete, how do you know that there are only about 50 transfer slots?

FYI for all you transfers, there are more spots out there this year for the fall. From what I know, Rice is no longer doing Spring Transfer admissions, and instead accepting more students for the fall term. We just started the Rice Transfer Student Association as well, so feel free to contact us if you want more information, etc.

I wasn’t accepted to Rice as a freshman this year :(. I plan on applying as a transfer student as a sophomore next fall from the University of Houston. Any tips on how to make myself stand out? Thanks!

Woah am I the only international transfer on this thread?
Transferring from the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi, India.
I’m just going to finish my second year here.
Might sound weird but I spent 4 years of my life trying to get into my current college and now it’s facing de-recognition.
Lack of infrastructure etc. But it’s ranked #1 in India so it may just lose it’s standing without getting derecognized, but as of now our futures are in the loop.
I also applied to Cooper Union, Virginia-Tech and Syracuse.
Yet to hear back from any of them.
Priority wise, for me it’s CU>Rice>VT>SU
I’ve run out of nails to chew on.

I attended an information session at Rice back in November and they told me that there was only about 50 transfer slots for the entire university, and only 20 slots for the engineering school. Im glad to here that there is more! Good luck to all of you!

hoping to transfer currently sophmore from SCAD in georgia. 50 slots? Thats very little.
unfortunatly still got to wait a whole month to hear from them.

The date isn’t confirmed. The admissions office is still sticking to saying mid-may. However, I think if you browse through the Rice transfer thread from last year on the Transfer forum, it shows that students were notified on the 27th.
