Yeah, she was leaning that way. Had yet to officially decide 100%, but mostly the better undergrad experience, the Open Curriculum, smaller campus. She’s very happy at Stanford, though, because it has a really strong Ed Studies program, so I guess it all works out.

DAN2233: How did you find out? Did you call/e-mail your regional admissions officer yourself, or did they contact you?

I emailed my admissions officer stating that I heard that the class is full… My guess is that the group that the now have is at least going to be z listed because the already know that not too many,if any, is going to receive a spot in the class of 2016…

Got my official rejection in the mail today. As much as it stung a bit, the letter was one of the best rejection letters I received throughout this whole process.

Rejected…whateverz. Good bye Brown dreams.

asinine, kmiller716, are you international students?

If you were to receive a call from your regional admissions officer, asking you if you would be interested in taking a gap year and going to Brown for the class of 2017. Would that mean that you have been accepted to the z-list. Has it happened before that someone receives a personal call by their admissions officer, yet is not accepted from the wait list or is not even put on the z-list??

Brownvfs, what were you trying to ask?.. It’s not so clear…

After winning a science fair through an exhausting weekend, and finally getting home, my parents left two things on my laptop. My “Welcome to Amherst” folder, and the rejection letter from Brown. This process is over! As much as I would love to complain about Brown’s inconsistency and annoyance, it doesn’t matter anymore – despite what I thought, it wasn’t the place for me. Hope all of you succeed in your future endeavors, and if any of you are still waiting, I wish you the best.

If a wait listed applicant receives a call from his regional admissions officer, and the call goes like this.

Admissions officer: "Unfortunately we do not have any space left. We wont be able to accept anyone from the wait list. However, we would like to know if you are interested in becoming part of Brown’s class of 2017 if you had to take a gap year "

Does this mean the waitlisted applicant was z-listed, or the admissions committee is trying to decide whether to put him on the z-list.

I believe that in case that the applicant says that he or she is intrested then they will offer him or her a spot in the class of 2017. Have you received such a call?/know soneone who did?.. In case you did, when was it?.. I am asking because I am an international applicant and I have been told by my admissions officer that I am part of a handful of people that are still under consideration so I am intrested in any developments regarding the waitlist… :))

Well I know someone. The applicant received a call around the 10th and went on to notify them that he would be willing to take the gap year. Has anyone else received a call similar to this one. The applicant has yet to receive an official letter. When will they sent out letters for z-listed applicants??

I received this on may 19th:“Hi, Daniel.
*
It’s all rather confusing- let me try to explain.
*
The vast majority of wait list decisions have been mailed. Students will receive their decisions by mail since they are being sent periodically, not on a specific schedule. We do not anticipate we will have wait list spaces for next year, but are continuing to review a small number of cases (like yours) *in the event we do - or in the even that we decide to offer some students a spot a year from now.
*
Everyone will be notified as soon as possible of the final outcome of our deliberations”

are these calls common??

I haven’t gotten any call…
Should I mail them that I’m planning to take a gap year anyways?

I still haven’t received any letter from Brown and I live only a few hours away. If they were all sent out a week ago, what does that mean?

It’s either that your letter was lost on it’s way to you, or that you are still being considered for admission/z list… From the information that I have you don’t want to receive a letter since the letters that were sent were all rejections… Good luck…

Has anyone have been admitted to the class of 2016?/Received an offer for the class of 2017?..

I sent them another e-mail and got a reply that they will add this information to my profile. I don’t understand, if they have already sent out all the rejection letters, why should they add it to my file? And if by some miracle I among that top students, why they did not tell me that? Anybody knows whether that “waves of rejection letters” ended? And if I were you, Dan, I would not be so nervous. Come on! They told you that you are among top candidates, so you will end up at Brown anyways, whether it is class of 2016 or 2017

Hi Amatore! I do hope you are right, and that I will be part of Brown:) I understand from your previous posts that you are international(me too), where are you from?.. Regarding the answer you received from the admissions office, it’s either that you are among the top students and still being considered, or that you are not and yet to receive your letter of rejection since you are international. I think you should email the admissions office stating that you are an international student and that your would like to receive you decision via email as well as mail. They will probably tell you where you stand at that point(rejected/still in the running). Let me know how it turns out … Good luck! And don’t lose hope untill you see a rejection letter. In Deo Speramus…
