Official Brown 2016 WAITING Room (for wait-listers only)

Borneo,

yes and yes although typically it’s the school’s college counselor, not the principal. This only works if there is a pre-existing relationship between the two; a random counselor can’t accomplish much beyond what his recommendation letter did.

Well the yield will be set pretty soon, with another week or so till they have it all calculated and we can start calling to see if they’re using the list this year. Is anyone else having problems trying to figure out how to work their deposits? Other than the 200 I paid for committing to my school (which I’m willing to sacrifice if I get off a waitlist), I still have to figure out how to work the 500 deposit for housing (earlier apps=higher priority)… Sigh this is so inconvenient but I won’t let go of that little hope haha

I’m not sure I fully understand your question but whatever school you are putting your deposit down on you should proceed with assuming you won’t get into Brown. It would be foolish to miss out on something at the school which you are far more likely to attend.

Yes, fully agreed – I also just found out that the deposit for housing is refundable, so all is good! Tomorrow will set whether they will use the list or not, so fingers crossed!

anyone heard back yet?

Did anyone who wrote a letter restating your interest and whatnot receive an email from admissions today? I got one confirming they got mine and that the office would soon start reviewing wait listed applicants, if space is available.

Do you think they will tell us when they know whether there will be spots available?

Usually people start calling around May 7th because by then hopefully the yield will be calculated, so I think we should just sit tight for another week or so.

I sent in my update letter couple of days ago, but have not received a reply back from the admission office confirming that they got it. I faxed it and then emailed to the officer of my region just in case the fax didn’t go through. I’m getting a little worried because other people seem to get replies back from the office! Do the officers always reply back to applicants? Also, would sending in additional teacher recommendation letter help? I’m not sure if Brown likes them… Help!

I think it’d be best to shoot an email asking for confirmation, or calling to see what’s up. And probably no to the teacher recommendation, unless it’s something very unusual.

My D received a letter yesterday confirming her status on the waitlist, stating that they have hundreds on it and that they will contact via mail, not call if they are going to go to the waitlist. Have others gotten that letter?

If you’re talking about the letter that comes with the Waitlist FAQ, then yes. Though I reread it and it never said they wouldn’t call, just to expect notification after May 15th by mail (in past years it’s been call and then mail, where I think the call is just courtesy, not formality). But if you’re not talking about that letter, then I have no idea haha

That letter is was what I was referring to. My D didn’t do any extra communicating, so I wondered if this was their way of telling her she was out of the picture. I felt like it was trying to say “don’t call us, we’ll call you” kind of message. But maybe she still has a shot being called.

thank you.

DESPERATE to know any updates abt waitlist news. Has anyone being wait listed got accepted?

My daughter got her waitlist confirmation but nothing else. She accepted NYU at this point, which she is VERY happy about! But she’s still waiting to see what happens with Brown.

Has anyone called today?

called? people are calling Brown?

Yea, in the past people on the wait list start calling around this time to see if brown plans to go to the wait list at all, because they probably have their yield calculated by now.

So no word from Brown yet?

No word here…
