I agree BrownFann, the wait is way too much.

It’s almost the 1st of may

Has anyone been admitted yet? In some other years people got calls Early

The calls come around 2nd Week of May so be patient.

Anyone else not happy with where they’ve deposited? My only hope is getting off this waitlist

3 international students out of 4 Brown accepted international students that we know said “NO” to Brown due to the poor financial offers and going to other schools of course. I guess the acceptance rate of internationals is much lower than that of Americans, and I am assuming the yield among international students is also lower. Therefore Brown waitlisted more international students in this respect.
Do you hear any news (international saying Yes and No to Brown) around you?
Any opinion on the yield on international students?

No matter what the statistic number says, you can get off the list or not is an issue.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

One student from my country has also refused the offer of Brown because he was accepted to harvard.

When will yield results be published?

It says “Admission decisions are currently not available”…few days ago it said “commited to waitlist”. I dont understand :

@livelyramu
that happens every year, there is nothing to worry about
@ Posterguy
I dont think they publish the yield out anywhere as of now like the other ivies, but they’ll probably tell us on phone whether or not the waitlist is being used.

[U. accepts second-lowest percentage of applicants ever ? Brown Daily Herald](U. accepts second-lowest percentage of applicants ever - The Brown Daily Herald)

I also want to know the yield as of May 1, but it seems impossible to get that figure.
Brown Daily Herald stated the anticipated yield for class of 2017 is 57%, which means only 5 spots available for waitlisted applicants!!!

However Brown yield stat in the past years indicates that somewhere around 55% - 56%could be anticipated, not 56%. That will create around 30-40 spots.(I hope!!!)

Can we know the yield of other ivies? If so, as of when?

Can someone please call to ask if they are using the waitlist?

@musicislife1595 thanks!
So any updates on yield? Waitlisters?

Hi, I’m on wait list too. From New Jersey Wait listed at u Chicago and Brown. Accepted into Wesleyan and Northwestern. Committed to Northwestern but I’m having second thoughts. I really want Brown but if I get Brown I’ll be super torn. I’m African-American and just like you Asians I’m hopping a bunch of blacks decided to go somewhere else so that I get in.

So no one has called about the waitlist yet? I think this thread needs to be moved to the general brown page. Previous years were much more active after may 1st. Maybe some people don’t know it’s here.

I called today to ask and got a girl who said that they were just beginning to review waitlisted applicants. I asked her if they were planning to use the waitlist and she didn’t seem to understand. Then I asked if they were planning to accept kids from the waitlist and she put me on hold to ask someone but unfortunately she told me that “that was something only an admissions director (I think) would be able to answer” and told me that the admissions director was in an info session right now but I could call back later. I never got to call back though because I had tennis

@Waitingmama: I believe the 57% estimate means they are hoping to have a 57% yield because that equals 1,515 students, which is their class size! I don’t think it has much to do with our perspective on yield :)

Do you guys think being an Asian from California makes my chances of being accepted from the wait list slimmer? :/

@william

I think if they are beginning to review waitlisted applicants, they must be planning to use the waitlist.

anybody can clear this for me? :
They have accepted nearly 600 students (lets say 580) in early decision
so now spaces left for regular decision is 1515-580 = 935
students admit in RD = 2649-580 = 2069

So now 2069 students have to either take or renounce the seats (935 seats for 2069 students)

So am I am the only one who’s confused about yield?? If yield is 57% then 57 percent of 2069 = 1179!
Conslusion : if yield is 57%, the incoming class is going to be overpopulated
Correct me if I am wrong, (I hope I am wrong!) :

I think the yield includes the early applicants too and then the whole is calculated.
