**OFFICIAL CAL POLY SLO 2014-2015 Early Decision**

What does everyone’s portal say right now? Mine says, “Thank you for applying to Cal Poly. We have received your application. No determination has been made at this time.” Post #90 says that it should say
Thank you for applying to Cal Poly Early Decision.", and if it doesn’t, you’ve been bumped over into regular decision? Anyone want to comment on this??? Confused.

Maybe the verbage has changed this year?? I hope so.

Right now my portal says (and this is copy and pasted): “Thank you for applying to Cal Poly for early decision. We have received your application. No determination has been made at this time.”

You should call the admissions office and see why you’re not listed as early decision if you remember applying as that? You should also look at your application and see if you did indeed select early decision because you may have and then perhaps it changed and you didn’t know? The deadline to change from regular to early decision was November 15. You should call the admissions office tomorrow to see what this is about.

ok, thank you. I double checked my csumentor and confirmed I did apply early decision. I will call the admissions office on Monday.

Where does the application status appear on the portal? I logged on my vip portal but it doesn’t say anything.

It’s not the VIP page, S0lver. It’s the portal they set up for you when you applied.

What will it say if I got accepted? Something like congrats…or something like thank you for applying, you have been accepted? Guys, only 10ish more days until we here back 0.0

Cannot wait to hear back. Time is going so slow.

just as a matter of curiosity. which one do you guys think would be better? the red bricks, or the towers? those are my two main options for dorms. ik it might be early to start thinking about that, but still. I CAN’T WAIT OMG!

So I applied Early Decision a while ago. Upon researching I saw that Cal Poly requires two semesters of electives. On the application I only put one semester of Economics because I saw it as one of the choices. I put other courses I’ve taken under Non A-G Courses. On the application, it lists the required amount of semesters except for the elective selection. This is why I did not catch this before I submitted. I’ve taken other courses such as a year of Health/Career Life and four years of theology but I’m not sure if these were considered electives by Cal Poly, so I listed them as Non A-G Courses. What happens if I’m one semester shy of the Cal Poly Elective requirement? Would it affect my chances of being admitted? Can I edit it and resubmit? Should I even edit it? Will they catch it themselves and see I have other courses in the Non A-G category and count them as electives?

Sorry, I just noticed this and I am kind of freaking out haha. Sorry if that was confusing and thanks for your time! I would appreciate a response ASAP :)

I just received an email from my counselor. She said that any classes above and beyond the requirements will be used as an elective (e.g. a third year of foreign language or an extra year of science). Even though they are not listed under the electives category in the application, Cal Poly still factors them in. So please disregard my questions above^. But I would still appreciate if someone could double check what my counselor said. Is she right? Thanks!

@ilovechloebell‌, you can check it out and know for sure. Simply call admissions. They are very friendly and helpful. They field questions like yours every day. Hear it from them and you KNOW it’s a fact. Rely on an opinion from CC and there’s still (at least there should be, this is a forum where you get advice from unknown random people) a little uncertainty. Good luck!

Does Cal Poly even consider courses that you take senior year?

@roxy401 They do! When I went on the college tour they said that they emphasize taking challenging courses senior year. Speaking to the general public, don’t forget its not all just gpa and sat scores. They take into account how difficult your classes are for all your four years of high school :)

@roxy401 Also, I have a friend who goes to cal poly this year, he’s in Sierra Madre and loves the environment. There are a lot of laid back people. He highly recommends it!

Praying we hear back by the fifth. I cannot wait any longer

the anticipation = death

@eyemgh Thanks. It’s just the admissions was closed over the weekend and my high school counselor was very confident. Thanks and good luck to you as well!
