**official cal poly slo 2014-2015 transfer decisions**

At the time I had only completed Calculus AP Credit, Microeconomics, and Statistics for major required courses as well as Accounting Principles I (not required). By Spring I will have completed all major requirements including Financial, Managerial, BLaw, & Macro and receive an AS-T in Business and believe an IGETC. The only way to have finished all major requirements by the summer of 2014 would have been to know my major immediately coming into college; and, in that case, I would have gone straight to a four year so I am not ashamed/guilty/worried about not having completed all of the requirements.

For sure, you never know though. Good luck to everyone, unless you’re a pho.

I like your picture @joogman23‌. Im way to superstitious to put that lol Server maintenance tonight on mycalpoly portals…hopefully we’ll be finding out tomorrow or late tonight

@oaklandas9 haha ty. im on their login page, i dont see that it’s down. where do you see that?

@joogman23 it says under the login for me “critical system status: polyplanner and peoplesoft outage 2/18 8pm-midnight.” Idk if that even relates to admissions though I could just be speculating too much haha

its related to Admissions. @oaklandas9‌ that’s how it was last year. this could be it… hold me brahs

The hold me brahs never gets old hahaha

lmao

Here are 2014 admission statistics for freshman and transfers. http://admissions.calpoly.edu/prospective/profile.html

Business accepted about 33% freshman with an average GPA of 3.98 while admission for transfers was only 11.5% with an average GPA of 3.54. I don’t understand why the GPA is so low for such a selective admission unless, as others have mentioned, Cal Poly wants pre-reqs to be completed, yield, or transfers have lower GPA overall.

so by “this could be it” do you mean that tonight they might be posting acceptances?? Also is it a myth that it goes by major, so business majors will be the first to hear back?

@schoolmaster those stats are completely useless. every single year its different. numbers go up and down like a latina.

The reason why you’re questioning a 3.54 is because there are factors in which a student can be ahead of a 4.0 student. For transfers, GPA isn’t much when it comes to calculating your MCA score for Cal Poly (the program they use to select students). They account more of how many classes you’ve completed before applying, and how many hours of ec’s and extra curricular activities you have. Those are the main points. After that, there are mandated points (extra points) on top of the algorithm. I can not go into detail about the mandated points until decisions have been posted. I will post a Powerpoint on how the MCA scoring program works and why it is essential to Cal Poly’s admission’s staff in which they benefit by sleeping more rather than doing their own job.

Also, when it comes to Freshman MCA, the numbers are all adjusted, that is when GPA matters the most, alongside the classes you’ve completed, ec’s, and SAT scores. The powerpoint will explain.

@sb1993 My guess is that they will be running the MCA program tonight to select the students for admission. It is a good time because most applicants will be asleep. Then they will get results in the morning and then they’ll prepare to release decisions later that day. This is just my theory so don’t quote me because I could be extremely wrong. I am just following the trend of last year.

Hey guys, so when I applied, i did mark im getting my AS-T for transfer but at the time my gpa was 3.39. I pulled a 4.0 this past semester (fall 2014) and it raised my overall to a 3.608. If i do get rejected, can I appeal this? thanks

@golfer112‌ for what major did you apply for?
Fall and Spring grades mean completely nothing. that is why it’s imperative to get your GPA as high as you can before applying to SLO. Appeals are rarely considered, I don’t mean to discourage you. Hope this helps.

@golfer112 As joogman23 has already indicated in post #110, your GPA does not appear to be the primary factor in terms of transfer admissions. Plus your GPA is close to those accepted for 2014 transfer, a little bit under business and engineering.

@joogman23, my major is Business Admin. thanks for the clarification. As you mentioned in post #110, the only main class i needed was English 3H. I went to a college prep high school near Fresno State so I took CSUF classes with AP classes. When i applied, my overall units total were around 90 for transfer. When I officially applied, I believe I had around 75 to 80 units. So hopefully that along with my AS-T help.

@golfer112‌ oh nice, you should be good then. You finished all of your prerequisites for Business before applying? including IGETC? I’m assuming you took English 3H (Critical Thinking) Fall '14.

@joogman23 first of all, I see you and your racist stripper comment. It was funny, and this is a place of friendship and mutual support, so I’ll let it slide. Second, who are you and why do you know so much about this process?
Third, what is the difference between “ec’s” and extra curriculars. Also also, if the amount of classes you have taken is number 1 on their list, does that just mean you need 60 or more and you get checked off the list, or does that mean if you have like 67 and someone else has 80 they are way ahead of you?

@joogman23‌, most of my business prereqs were done before applying, 1 was in progress during fall 2014. Unfortunately due to being a student athlete, English 3H interfered with my golf schedule, so I am taking it now. (Spring 2015) However, I did receive A’s in my other honors classes and also did complete the General Education Breadth…which is close to IGETC but has a few more requirements i think.

@joogman23‌ also an Eagle Scout…but I can’t put that on the application anywhere however, i was able to put the EC hours for community service along with athletics and work experience being a part time worker.
