Can someone tell me how to calculate MCA?

@coastercrutch- yes my son (OOS) got outreach scholarship offer also. Not expected but nice.

Some how my Act score did not reached to Calpoly, is it going to effect on decision?. I saw cal poly web site, they did not mention any deadline to send ACT score report. Any help appreciated on this.

@hellogoodbye111, what other schools have you applied and been accepted to for ComSci? My son will attend San Jose State if not Cal Poly.

MCA is 4298.1 (or 4158.1, not sure if I did ECs right) that .1 makes me feel better so I included it, major is MechE, if i chose something other than engineering I would have had a good shot haha. If my GPA wasn’t so low I think I would have been a shoo in. It’s kind of depressing how they weigh GPA more than test scores because I only have the test scores. :(

@czs1994 do you know what role does a CP coach"flagging" and app have on admittance?

It just means that the app needs to be viewed with the other sports apps afaik.

@zacattack16 tthats a pretty good MCA either way considering the gpa setback. i dont remember the cutoff for meche…dunno if it was in the pdf thing that justin posted

No real cutoffs were shown in that report that I saw the even numbers they had I believe were absolute lows they could use for sports etc. but don’t quote me on that. I have studied this quite a bit. One reason they use GPA so strongly is that it has been the best predictor of how a student does. @nrbsab If you do not have another score in then I believe it will be considered incomplete or they may just not count any points for a score, I would call admissions Monday and not talk to the student who answers the phone ask for a counselor at a minimum.

HOW DOES ONE CALCULATE MCA

Here is Cal Poly’s information about submitting test scores. January 15 was the deadline, <a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions;

@collegesplz that has been answered before and is a best guess here is the link http://www.act.org/epc/ppt/EPC%202013%20F1.2%20Maraviglia%20Amos.pdf

I got accepted with extremely low stats 3.3 csu gpa 1590 sat… But i ont know if i should go there or not

Assuming I calculated this right…
180 for ECs/leadership + 1400 for SAT score + 600 for extra courses + 2250 for GPA = 4430 MCA

I am an in-state BME major who hasn’t heard back idea.
Does this seem like a competitive enough MCA to get admitted?
Have any admitted in-state BME majors calculated their MCA?

Thank you czs1994. We are not seeing anything in ToDo list, and we did not informed about any missing documents. My son sent ACT scores to SJSU and Cal state EAST Bay. I wonder they are going to share the information.

For calculating the MCA, is the points for SAT score just a direct conversion from CR+M score to MCA points? How is the max possible points 1650 for SAT score?

Remember when using the MCA algorithm that there are maximums in several categories. You can have more than 750 bonus points for classes, but can only count 750. Your GPA can be higher than 4.2, but the formula tops out there.

@imadeit Whats your major?

@collegiateDreams there is a tiny multiplier like 1.031 for the SAT.
@nrbsab if it were my student I would call, I do not think there is any sharing of information going on. Did your son forget to send his scores to Cal Poly? Did he send earlier scores?

@CollegiateDreams - According to the example in the pdf, you multiply your CR+M by 1.031 to determine your points. Therefore, if your score was 1600 you would reach the 1650 maximum.
