****official cal poly slo class of 2018 decisions****

I had thought Cal Poly was similar in selectivity to UCSB, but some of the posts on this thread suggest that in certain majors it may be closer to UCLA. I wonder if Poly is being very conservative in who it admits to prevent over-enrollment, and then intends to admit a large chunk of the class from the wait list.

this year id say its this ^ last yr was heavily overenroll

Still waiting to hear for Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 3.76 uw, 3.94 w
ACT: 31
4 Honors, 7 APs

Almost all of my friends at my school that have applied for BME, ME, and other competitive Engineering majors have not heard back either.

@TSchaser and 2018 dad He heard today on portal. No email yet. He also applied to UCLA, UCSD, UCB, UCI. Accepted into UCR Honors program. Tried ACT, but didn’t do well on one section, so didn’t send scores.

I got in for architecture :)

GPA: 89/100 weighted
ACT: 29
4 Honors, 4 APs

I also will have completed 28 semester hours of dual-enrollment college credit from Georgia State University by the end of this semester, which I believe helped me a lot because my stats are definitely below average for the architecture major!

@Socal95 Those are pretty much exactly my stats and I am in the same boat. I haven’t heard anything yet.

Still waiting for Mech E

GPA: 4.0 UW 4.42 CSU W
ACT: 33
7 APs

I am still kind of worried that I haven’t heard anything from CP. I have been checking my portal and it just says “no determination has been made yet.” I am kind of surprised, but with such an impacted major program I guess I should expect this.

still waiting for computer science…

are any decisions posted on weekends?

@billyblaha, same here, all engineering students except one haven’t heard yet…

@billyblaha, Sorry, tagged the wrong person… @collegewooo, look at my previous post

Waiting for MechE also…4.13w, 5 ap’s, 27 act

Waiting for MechE, mechatronics specialization. Over 1000 hours community service, over 500 hours work, over 300 robotics club. Taken college classes at the local university while in high school, weighted GPA is about 4.4. Taken engineering classes at my high school as well. Low SAT which may result in rejection, but hopefully not.

Hi @gumbymom, I hope your son gets in!
I’m still waiting to hear from UCI, UCD, and Cal, but I’ve already been accepted into San Jose State, Sonoma State, Cal Poly Pomona (the only other school I was seriously considering), and UCR, as well as a private school in Minnesota. So far, everywhere I’ve applied, I’ve gotten in. Already decided I am going to SLO though.
Good luck to your son!!

Hi bugsy12, my stats are a 4.1something weighted GPA, 28 composite on my ACT, and a lot of community service and school involvement. Nothing stellar, but it was enough to get in:D
Good luck! Let me know if you get accepted!

do you guys think decisions are coming out tomorrow??

@want2go2college1 For the past two weeks, Mondays have been ‘off days’ for admissions…

@want2go2college1 mondays and sometimes tuesday are off, however i have seen some people accepted on the weekend? Don’t sweat it though because they sending out more acceptances this week :)

No decision yet for my Electrical Engineering major son. Guessing it’s super impacted. Should have picked something else.

@smallfishbigpnd Don’t worry, most of the engineering majors have not been sent out yet. Hopefully this will be the week for engineers. After all, the school is tough on engineering, so maybe they needed some extra time to figure out who is dedicated to their school before switching to another. Good luck!
