My friend said he got in, hes an in-state biomed engineer
My friend got accepted in state psychology major
@arsenalfan69 are you just kidding or being serious?
does engineering as a whole release at the same time or each major?
Did not hear back. I’m an instate manufacturing engineering major.
@appleface47 It looks like every year is a bit different but I think usually it is by specific major.
Any instate cs majors hear anything?
Does anyone know if there is a CP admissions rep that covers San Diego area?
@ArsenalFan69 did he just find out right now?
@eyemgh I know of many students who consider Cal Poly as a back up to MIT, Cal Tech, and other “prestige colleges”. These are students with 4.0 gpa and max weighted gpas, all the extra points for extra classes, a big bump, no missing classes, a big hurt, 2300+ SAT or 35/36 ACT. I personally do not know anyone with those stats, who did their application correctly, who did not get in. Between MIT Cal Tech, Stanford, etc. with aid and Cal Poly, the prior win. Architecture and Aero Eng might be exceptions. Maybe safety is too strong a word, but definitely back up. This is why Cal Poly has to accept so many more students yield rates are a little low especially in STEM areas. Yield rates for all Schools are: Ag 46% Accepted 48% yield. Arch: 48% accepted 52% yield. Engineering: 23% Accepted 37% yield. Liberal Arts: 36% accepted 30% yield. Business 33% accepted 31% yield. Science and Math Acceptance 28% and yield 21%. Compared to the privates they are very low.
There are exceptions in each major, for example Targets in 2014 for Agriculture were for Animal Science to have 14% of the applicants attend while BioResource and Ag Engineer was 62%. In CENG the biomed eng targets were for only 4% of applicants to attend while industrial eng was 26%. You can do your own math on the Target report. Soon I hope they will release the actual numbers for 2014.
@eyemgh can you give a source for your statement that Cal Poly uses only the Math and English for the ACT, I have never seen that in the MCA or other source?
any business/econ/industrial technology majors in state or out of state heard back?
@Colanzio5 I see it as objective vs. subjective. All those students who do volunteer work to look good for college, hire people to “help” them with their essays, have enough money to go to Africa to volunteer, no longer have an advantage. They get some by being able to pay for multiple and expensive test prep, but no longer can use legacy status etc. to get in with lesser academic standing.
@czs1994 - the information you’re asking for is on SLO’s website http://admissions.calpoly.edu/applicants/freshman/testing.html
Accepted in-state for computer engineering!! 800 M / 680 CR, 4.29 CSU GPA, maxed out honors / rigor. Feeling happy right now
Please nobody refer to post #713. He is joking. He was not accepted. Please everyone only post if you have actually been accepted to Cal Poly. A lot of people are actually worried about acceptance
Nobody pay attention to @hiebsslomie. Some people have too much time on their hands.
@iluvducks Cal Poly is a pretty conservative university for CA. It is however fairly accepting of the LGBTA community. Very strong in the religion area. It was a bit much for my son in the beginning, but there were enough social liberals he found his group.
Really…what is wrong with people…posting fake acceptance?
@leandraduke The lowest CSU GPA I can see on my list was a 4.0. The lowest scores I can see is a 590 Reading & a 660 in Mathematics. This is just for Business Admin majors btw and the numbers I gave you were for the top 70 ranked. It depends each year, Cal Poly is getting more popular each year and for some reason tons of OOS applicants want to apply here too. Some students don’t necessarily need to be smart in order to get into Poly. What some benefit from is extra points to the Algorithm which makes applicants blow by applicants with phenomenal stats and no bonus points. It looks like you will be receiving a lot of bonus points since you said your father retired from IT and you are in SLO county. Your acceptance is on the way. Hope this helps.
& yeah some kids could care less to get a degree and they just party their a** off at SLO and it leaves people questioning how they got into Poly in the first place. Bonus points can be crucial. Where else did you apply?
