@luckymomof3 Biological Sciences
@lagunitakid I think you have a good chance of getting in. Good luck
CP is pure computer driven admissions, no human sees your app and the criteria you mention about it being a 1st or second choice is not a criteria in the algorithm. They do not reject high scoring RD kids because they know it isn’t their first choice.
For engineering majors is SLO or Georgia Tech more difficult to get into?
I don’t know GT’s breakdown by major like I do for CP, but school wide they are similar with each accepting a bit over 30% of their applicants. My guess is that CP, for ME, BME, Aero and CS is going to be a tougher admit, especially because CP is strictly numerical whereas GT is holistic. Again, just an educated guess.
how impacted is their biological sciences major?
@Sirlaz you have a decent chance 50/50
Chance me?

I think like a 3.9 cal poly gpa

Could someone chance me? Would really appreciate it
Major: Biomedical Engineering

Also when do regular decisions come out?
Thanks so much! Would really love to go here!
@calikid12345, is that your school’s weighted GPA or your actual Cal Poly CSU calculated GPA? Only the Cal Poly CSU GPA matters.
Daughter applied as microbiology major. Cal Poly CSU GPA is 4.3, ACT is 32. She has taken math through AP Calc BC and has six science courses (bio, human bio, physics, biomedical technology, honors chem and AP chem). She seems like a strong candidate but I’ve seen many students with great stats not make it in. Does it in part depend on how many students from your high school applied?
@iluvducks Last year A LOT of kids from my daughers HS got into SLO so I dont think that would be an issue. Also SLO GPA max at 4.2
@iluvducks with the above said I think your daughter has an excellent chance of getting in. Good luck
@iluvducks, there isn’t any weight given to the school you attended or how many applicants there are from a particular school. As @Luckymomof3 said, the GPA caps out at 4.2. Students can have a higher GPA, but get maximum credit at 4.2 and above. It seems like she’s a strong candidate. Micro accepts roughly 20-25% of its applicants. The one catch for strong students is that they will be rejected if they are missing ANY of the a-g requirements. The one that causes the problem typically is art. It is often seen as a fluff class, but without a year of performing or visual arts, a student will be denied admission. Good luck to your daughter.
Hi I have some questions. I applied for Software Engineering. I am OOS and was wondering if my application will have a different admissions process. I just read that it is computerized but the application does not give a good picture of who I am. I put 25+ ec hrs per week but the grading is the issue. I have a 3.67 uw GPA and a 3.88 w GPA. This isn’t really fair though because I have taken all honors and AP classes but I am only able to count my AP classes. Additionally, I have taken many extra classes that make the weighted part have almost no effect. I’ve taken 8 more semesters worth of classes than every other student at my school. I was just wondering if this is accounted for (also in if it is accounted for in the UC applications). Lastly, I was wondering if Senior Year grades have any impact in ether of these applications. I took the hardest classes my school has to offer and got all A’s and was put in the top 10% of my class.
Also I was wondering if anyone could chance me for CP SLO and maybe the UC Schools
UW 3.67 (10th grade half a’s half b’s - junior year semester 1 half a’s and b’s second semester all a’s)
CSU/UC W 3.88
SAT(M/R/W): 750 630 770
ACT: 31
Math 2: 760
Math 1: 750
Physics: 680
US History: 750
18 Honors Semesters
7 AP Semsters
@jlev96, unfortunately CP doesn’t distinguish. You will be judged only against OOS applicants if that’s any consolation. It is interesting, and somewhat unfair, that your weighting from honors and APs is diluted by a higher course load.
I was wondering what chances I have of getting in?? I had a 1600 SAT score, didn’t take the ACT and have a 3.8 GPA. I’ve taken a ton of honors and AP classes, I’ve been playing varsity soccer since I was a freshman and I’ve had a job. I really want to get into cal poly for Kinesiology!
@tlhs2015 1600 out of 2400?
@Nick97Furbish yeah. I know really low. I tested terribly. I only took it once because my girlfriend got into an accident the morning I was suppose to take it again
any agriculture and environmental plant sciences majors here? lol
