I don't think notification has been sent out yet, but the letters are supposed to come before the 15th. I couldn't find a thread for the program, so I decided to start one!

Who got interviews? How many people are eventually admitted to the program? Anyone been admitted/got interviews who would like to share their stats/experience? How are the interviews?

Yeah. The CaltechUC San Diego Medical Scholars program is an eight-year medical school program. Each year, six newly admitted freshmen at Caltech will also be offered early admission to the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, pending completion of their Caltech degrees as "medical scholars."

To be admitted to this program, you have to apply to Caltech early and if you are admitted, you will be allowed to apply to the medical scholars program. Here is the link to the site/brochure... Caltech Undergraduate Admissions: Preparing for Medical School

I was checking previous posts on CC and the notification came by email for the last two years. Also, last year it came about 10 days late, and the year before that it came around 5 days late. So I guess we should be ready to wait because I doubt that we will get it before the 15th....

this program is probably the best one out there, and the hardest to get into i would imagine.

i think if you get in you an also do your undergrad at ucsd instead of caltech. i remember someone on here did that...maintaing a solid gpa at caltech would really suck (would probably be hella boring too).

Yeah this program is deft. one of the best ones. Actually though, the UCSD medical scholars program is applied through UCSD and that occurs in April I think. You have to be accepted by UCSD and then meet some min. requirements and you will get the application for the medical program. They both send their students to the med school, but I'm not sure about the option to switch between the two programs...

^^ i know what the med scholars program is, and i wasnt talking about that.

someone on the forum said dr kelly (adcom from ucsd med) didnt mind letting him do his undergrad at ucsd. after all, she is the ultimate judge of what you can/cant do since she holds your med school spot. caltech might get ****ed but whatever. its really expensive too..

If you play football and think you are going to get into the UCSD or Caltech-UCSD medical programs because of your prowess in playing football, well think again -- neither school has a football team!

No RAH-RAH, CIS-BOOM-BAH for you !!!

On the other hand, if you're 6'5" and can take it to the hole, new Men's Basketball Head Coach Eslinger or Women's Basketball Head Coach Marbut will probably want to talk to you !!!

Just go to www. gocaltech .com and fill out the appropriate recruiting form!
Go Beavers!!!

has anyone received an interview yet? I had some pretty rotten luck. My recommendation letter got lost in the mail, and when I had my teacher email the recommendation in, something was wrong with their email system and none of the emails were getting through. I still don't know if they've gotten my recommendation :(

Wow UCSD has set a new record of delay with getting the results out. I wonder if they have already gone or something and we just didn't get it...But I feel that someone would have reported it in that case...AHH I can't bear this wait. I really want to know!!

If you are talking about the Caltech-UCSD Medical Scholars Program, those students have already been notified of their finalist status and interviews are taking place now.

This is for doing your undergrad at Caltech and your MD at UCSD.

By the way, for anyone still waiting for notification about this program, I just got my email about my interview so don't give up hope just yet =)
