when are these even released?

The first wave of decisions are mailed March 23 and the results are posted online on the “Where am I in the process” page on March 27, which is about the time the acceptance packages should reach homes, depending on how close you live to Pittsburgh. I live near NYC, so if I get accepted, I should get my decision on March 25 or 26 (if part of the first wave of acceptances)

WOAH RELLE? how do u kno?
MADDD EXCIIITED.

Cornellite95, check the CMU admissions Facebook page. It has contact status updates about this :)

The fat book reached me before the online status changed as I recall.

I still have my fat book :)

Bump 10char

I received a letter from CMU particularly the Reduced Income Guide & Form…

Since decisions have been mailed already and are supposed to be posted tonight, does this mean a possible acceptance ??? (:

Gah, I just can’t wait to check in the morning!

Guess I should just copy/paste into the official RD forum (already posted in the other one)

Decision: Accepted to Tepper and HSS

Stats:

 • SAT:2280 (740 Math, 760 English, 780 Writing)
 • SAT IIs: Literature: 740, Chemistry: 760, Math I: 780
 • ACT: 34
 • GPA: 4.904/4.000 weighted, 3.95/4.00 unweighted
 • Rank: 6/425
 • Competitions/Prizes: National Merit Finalist, National Honors Society, High School Science Team (3 hrs/week), #1 Nationally Ranked High School Soccer Team and #5 Nationally Ranked Club Soccer Team (15 hrs/week, 10 months/year)
 • Other stats:

Subjective:

 • Essays: Strong, but not incredible, though the grammar was perfect and I consider myself fairly articulate. I wrote on morals in today’s society and my strong conscience.
 • CMU Supplement: Pretty generic; I wrote a simple essay on why I wanted to go into business and how CM would help me with this. It was pretty much a cut-and-paste from an essay I had written for all of the schools to which I applied, but it was strong and well-written.
 • Teacher Recs: One was phenomenal, from my 10th grade business teacher who had me for two classes that year. The other–I have no idea. I have reason to suspect that it was either a very lackadaisical “eh” essay or one that could have hurt me in admissions.
 • Counselor Rec: Very good, but not sure how much weight this carries.
 • Hook (if any): From the South, also tons of support from the soccer coach at CM. I think that this was the main thing that pushed me through. I would have liked to post this earlier, but was told not to say anything until admissions officially came out.

Location/Person:

 • State or Country: SC
 • School Type: Large Public
 • Ethnicity: White
 • Gender: Male
 • Application (ED/RD?): RD

Other Factors: Never visited campus, did an interview, showed much interest to the admissions department, but was still accepted. I would recommend doing all of this, though, because the school does take these things into great consideration when making decisions.

Son got waitlisted, Tepper and HSS. Not sure what to think about that, had expected acceptance or denial, but not waitlist.

For Tepper, I was waitlisted

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1256342-chance-me-wharton-harvard-columbia-etc.html

I got into Rice, Babson, Case Western, UChicago, Preferred Admission to Ross at UMich, UVA out of state, Wash U, and Rice.

I didn’t know Tepper was so hard to get into. I guess I was arrogant, but I basically thought I was in. Oh well, plenty of good choices and still waiting for the big ones.

[/ul]General Comments:

College admissions is a crapshoot so you’re going to want to pick schools that are fairly formulaic in admissions. Also, don’t be like me and have super high test scores with a decent but not amazing GPA. Have the total package. Trust me, it helps.

Waitlisted for SCS and MCS.
I didn’t really show any interest at all, so I’m kind of surprised I wasn’t rejected.
