**Official Carnegie Mellon University Class of 2013 RD Decisions Thread**

Are there any accepted people who haven't gotten the admissions letter yet? I found out that I got into HSS through the online thing but haven't gotten the letter yet.

Decision: Accepted (CFA, HSS, and IS)

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): W740, M730, CR690= 2160
[]SAT II:US History 770, Math 2c 730, Bio 500 (Hah! They're not supposed to count this though)
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0):3.7
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable):25%
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): physics B 3, Lang 4, US History 4
[]Senior Year Course Load: AP French, AP Art, AP Gov, AP Calc BC, Econ, Honors English
[li] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): AP Scholar, National Merit Commended....Not so major...[/li][/ul]

Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):Editor-in-Chief of Lit. Arts Mag, President of Amnesty, Events Coordinator for community service club, artist
[]Volunteer/Community service: miscellaneous.
[] Summer Activities: CMU PRE-COLLEGE 2008!
[]Essays: It was about a No on Prop 8 rally I attended.
[]Teacher Recommendation: Apparently good enough.
[]Counselor Rec:Apparently good enough.
[] Additional Rec: From my pre-college TA's...pretty decent, I assume!
[] Interview: No.
[/ul]

Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: yes
[]CMU college/s applied to: CFA, HSS, IS
[] Intended Major: BHA in Art and Social and Cultural History (aka sociology, haha)
[] State (if domestic applicant):California
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: competitive public
[] Ethnicity: Asian
[] Gender:F
[] Income Bracket:<40,000
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): first-generation, attended pre-college
[/ul]

Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: connection to pre-college, art portfolio, upward GPA, schools applied to are easier to get into than, say, SCS
[] Weaknesses: rank is nevertheless lower than average
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I went to pre-college, so I wrote about my experiences there in my "Why CMU" essay. :)[/li][/ul]General Comments: I'm quite excited! I'm waiting on my financial aid package...I have a feeling it won't please me, but I'm crossing my fingers! I'm waiting for other schools this week, so I'll see :). P.S. Congrats to all who've been accepted. I wish everyone who hasn't heard back yet luck!

@ Juliet

I would love to go to CMU, they've got everything I want in academics and I would be a total nerd goddess :)

I haven't submitted fafsa yet though due to family issues, and none of my relatives have good credit, so I have absolutely no earthly clue how I would possibly be able to pay for it. I'm going to call them and ask for help tomorrow though, so we'll see.

I was also accepted to the University of Florida and am waiting on UVA and BC. UF and the state of Florida are giving me a 100 percent tuition/books scholarship with a semester allowance...so that may hold me back from an otherwise perfect school...shrug

200-something students is still really small for an entire college; I look forward to the small classes.

@tsaim

I haven't gotten the letter yet either; I looked online. A bit anti-climactic, but it still brought me nearly to tears.

Does anyone else who hasn't received their decision find it extremely disconcerting that there have been no rejections yet? I know its making me stressed out.

chaoticcrisis, my stats are very similar to you, except i'm asian male. hopefully i get in too!

effward, there have been rejections.

The people that are posting that they are accepted aren't the only people that found out. The rejects probably won't post because they are too embarrassed.

If your stats are similar to these kids, you shouldn't worry. (Not that every kid has around a 2300 and a 4.0) lol.

qazwsx1!, I guess I am just used to the MIT decision thread where people posted rejections and acceptances. I still have not actually heard of any one getting rejected.

On a positive note, my stats are similar to these kids', plus I did pre-college at CMU.... so hopefully that will help. I just don't understand why they have to keep me waiting for so long when 2 of my friends have already been accepted.

General Comments:*
I'm glad to have gotten into CMU, and although it was a painful process, from the 1200 character essay, the twenty word max short response for architecture, the early due date, and the odd online, wave decisions, blank line (which i did not get), and random checking to see. I have never visited the school, and I doubt I will attend, but I do hope to see the person who interviewed me again. He was a very nice man. Still waiting on Cornell Architecture, i am looking forward to Tuesday :-P

Decision: Accepted MCS ("second" wave)

Would rather not post stats...but let me say that...
I WAS IN THE SECOND/THIRD/FOURTH WHATEVER WAVE that found out tonight.

So for 2014's and beyond.
Don't give up hope if you don't get yours the first day.
And don't let other's opinions make you feel worse about yourself.
Never lose hope. :)
