Stats
SAT: 680 v, 570 m, 640 w
SAT IIs: 730 history, 680 literature
GPA: 4.25
Rank: 5/330
Other stats:

Subjective:
Essays: not good enough apparently
Teacher Recs: not good enough apparently
Counselor Rec: not good enough apparently
Hook (if any): see above
Location/Person:[ /b][ list]
State or Country: va
School Type: rural, terrible and usually sends 1 person to uva per year
Ethnicity: 1/4 asian, white mainly
Gender: female

Other Factors: a big fat SUspension on my record. idk i mean i guess i thought being the president of like every club at our school, captain and four year letterman for a bunch of sports and an overall leader in my school would be advantageous.
[ b]General Comments:[ /b] My only complaint is that i feel as if things would have been different had i not gotten in trouble last year. Obviously that's entirely my fault, so that's my bigger complaint: i failed. It's like 17 years of doing everything right was completely overshadowed by doing one thing wrong. But enough of the sob story.... lesson to all: don't screw up or it will haunt you for the rest of your life.

Decision: ACCEPTED

Echols: N

Out of State (NY)
How Applied: Considered ED... eventually decided on regular at CAS.

Stats:
SAT: 2210 (800 CR 610 M 800 W)
SAT IIs: 800 US History 760 Lit 800 World History 720 Bio-M
GPA: 95.5 uw
Rank: 9/105
Activities: Student body president, four years of golf, founded Junior Statesmen chapter, four years of theatre, distinguished in academic trivia, four years as a primary writer for school newspaper.
Other stats: 5s on AP US History and Biology... all my school offered up to this year. Right now I'm doing Macro/Micro, English Lit (taking the Language exam too), European History, and self-studying World History and US Government/Politics (for the latter I took a semester at Georgetown over the summer... got an A)

Subjective:
Essays: Definitely some of my better ones.
Teacher Recs: One good, one great, one (from my professor whom I had at Georgetown for Junior Statesmen Summer School) absolutely incredible... he said the only way to tell me apart from a Ph.D. is that I will be "exuberant rather than prematurely cynical."
Counselor Rec: Excellent.
Hook (if any): Aside from that one rec, not really.

Location/Person:
State or Country: Western NY
School Type: Very small public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male

Other Factors: I visited over the summer.... campus took my breath away.

General Comments: Extremely excited..... I'm only the second person to be accepted at UVA in my high school's history (a dismal one it is). I'll definitely be considering Mr. Jefferson's University pretty strongly.... have to check out Hopkins, and see if good news arrives from U of Chicago. Best of luck and congratulations to all!

Stats:
SAT:2140 Math: 700 Verbal: 700 Writing: 740

Other stats: national hispanic scholar, national merit commended scholar; 8 ap courses and a ton of lame honors courses; ap bio-4, ap us history 5, ap eng lang/comp-4

Subjective:

Location/Person:
State or Country: florida
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: hispanic/asian
Gender: male

Other Factors: i used to play tennis nationally when i was younger but gave it up to concentrate on school and debate. i traveled heavily in debate for 4 years and got a top 50 national ranking. i also transferred from the best prep school in my area to the best public school in my area after the 3rd quarter of my junior year (my old prep school just got 5 kids into harvard out of a class of like 115)

General Comments: i'm really excited. i was accepted at uf, penn state honors business, william and mary, university of michigan-ann arbor with a 20k scholarship, and uva and waitlisted at cornell. uva was my first true college love, so maybe i'll end up here.

ArThriTiC_kr - HAHAHA, I'm a big StarCraft fan too, although from your ranking I'd say you'd make short work of me. Out of curiosity, what's your species of choice (I'm a Protoss man)?

aplacefortruth-
No, I was actually not Rodman, which to me makes my acceptance even more surprising. If you take out all the URM/Legacy/ Recruited Athlete/Rodmans in the OOS applicant pool... I'd think kids like me would have a less than 10% chance. Anyway I'm just very glad and excited. Accepted today at ND by the way so I'll choose between ND/tOSU/and UVa.
