^
I wouldn’t be surprise if you hear back from the next wave of decisions, wouldn’t be surprise if it would be a acceptance either due to your stats and also read that legacy helps at most universities.

At least most of you US folks kill the waiting time from here while you’re asleep. In my instance, I’ll be waiting till this evening (6AM EST = 6PM in Singapore). And that’s if they release things today and not tomorrow.

I really hope i get in, my friends heard back and got in, in the ealier batch with similar stats

^
That must be a big relief for them, now all they have to worrie about is not getting withdrawn.

It must be really distracting if you ( and I myself) don’t hear anything tomorrow ( if decisions are released) chances are that we could be at the point of break for another 2 weeks.

yea i think itd be really useful if we knew the latest date of full submission from the first batch

^
I think one cc user full submission was like Oct 15, I’m not sure but it was in the teens. So I don’t think knowing dates of submission would be that helpful as no one have detected a pattern ( besides alphabetical order theory).

Well, should they release another batch tomorrow, here’s the posting format but without the spaces so you guys can just copy-paste and not have to deal with the backspacing crap. (It’ll automatically put in the code if you copy this text into your text field.) If the thread starter wants to edit their first post with this, feel free!

My friend has a theory that most kids accepted have had parents at Michigan. All the kids who have been submitted from our school so far (around 10) have had parents there and submitted in August or September.

I’m studying in MI but OOS due to my immigration status. I hope the adcom sees it in a favorable way compared to the other OOS applicants. Wishful thinking!

Sorry if this is too late, but i just joined CC, and was accepted during the first wave two weeks ago!

^ Oh man, this is only making is more and more anxious.

@ jrt336: All three students admitted in the first wave at our school had no alumni connections to UMich.

BTW, everything was received on Wolverine Access the first week of October for me, and i was accepted on the 22nd.

@jrt336: I believe you’ve stumbled upon the reason why statistics tells us that “correlation does not imply causation”.

I believe they’ve accepted: (a) in-state students (b) people who applied very very early (c) people with excellent to stellar profiles so far.

In your instance, I’m guessing that these 10 students with U-M parents are all in-state which is quite a natural supposition because there’s a high chance that those U-M parents were either initially from MI or decided to work/live in MI after graduating from U-M. In fact, if you were to look at the CDS: <a href=“Office of Budget and Planning”>Office of Budget and Planning; you’d find that state residency is not that important a factor, certainly not weighty enough to merit an separate admission cycle.

Nah, it must have been a coincidence. Everyone I know (including myself) that have already been admitted doesn’t have any parent alums at all. I don’t think that this is a very big hook in the first place if you don’t have the stats, and if you have the stats, you’ll get in anyways.

I personally think that people who have already been admitted is mostly based on having good stats. Obviously you had to have submitted your app early enough so they could actually read it in time, but I don’t think submitting it super early would cause you to have a decision. I know a few people who submitted their apps super early and haven’t heard back yet.

I am fairly certain that the people who have already been accepted either have the highest of scores, or they have a huge hook. All my friends who have been accepted so far have had 34 ACTs or above and 4.0 gpas or above. Obviously it also depends if you get your application in early enough. Others who have been accepted have slightly lower stats, but relatives that either donate or are prominent in the U of M community.

Actually my friend got into the nursing program with only a 25 on the ACT and a few extra-curriculars with no alumnae connections!

well im not saying that everybody whos gotten in have had great stats, but probably the majority. Im sure some others have heard back so far as well, and congrats for them.

I have a question for people who have already been accepted: Did your acceptance email show up later in the day, or at the same time as your wolverine access was updated? Thanks in advance.

I first heard on WA, then the email comes. Then like 3 days later, u get the official letter in the mail.
