oh i thought you meant they had already decided by saying “no holds…”

What are people’s SAT scores… i just want to get an idea about where i stand in comparison to you guys!

in the midwest, and especially in michigan where every high school student is required to take the ACT, the vast majority will send ACT scores instead of SAT scores. So i only sent my ACT, but if you want to know it was a 34, idk what that translates to on the SAT.

I also only sent my ACT score in and also have a 34. From what I understand a 34 ACT translates roughly to a 2280 SAT score.

That’s a really really good score

you guys should not have any trouble with a 34. the highest last year that i heard that was deferred was a 33 but they did not have a good GPA.

bumpbumpbump

The 25th-75th accepted ACT percentile from last year was 27-31! only 25% of those accepted had ACT’s higher than a 31. You’d really have to be a loser on the EC’s, essay’s or Rec’s to blow a 34 ACT ;)

it was actually 28-32 last year

guess it depends on the source.

yeah that was for 2008-2009, they had a ton of applicants last year because of common app. the projected acceptance rate this year is 30-35% instead of 50%

While nobody here is a admissions officer obviously, does anybody have some insight into what the college looks at most for admissions? My GPA and that 34 ACT score seem to line up well with what UM normally admits but to be honest my EC’s are quite lacking and I’m wondering how much those play into the decisions role at the university.

Same 27-31 ACT range here (says 2010) either way, a 34 on test scores alone? is a “no brainer” 30-35% acceptance is quite a drop off! wonder what impact that will have on OOS?

My comfort being OOS (740m, 740cr, 790w) is that i have asked multiple admissions counselors what acceptances in state/OOS shape up to. no one doubts OOS is harder, but MI’s rules aren’t as stringent in terms of instate enrollment as say, virginia’s are. they say that accepted students are about 2/3rds oos, 1/3 instate, but enrollment is the opposite: 1/3 oos. It makes sense that instate students would matriculate at a much higher rate for financial reasons, etc. Good luck everyone!

thank you for the flattery, but its really not necessary! we are all qualified in our own ways. I’m extremely nervous though. I’m only applying to five schools (Michigan, Boston College, Harvard, Duke, and Emory), the latter three are all RD and the first two are EA. Clearly, Michigan and BC are my safest two schools, so since I don’t have any real safeties I could be in a dangerous situation, ie, applying to five more schools during xmas break. Not to mention, out of my five, BC is my last choice and Michigan is either my 1st or 2nd choice, so if I don’t get into Michigan i will be so bummed. has anyone else not gotten in anywhere yet, I feel like I’m the only one!

also, to settle our nerves and give us something to do, why dont we go around the circle and say where else we are applying?

Okay I’ll start, I’m also applying to the University of Washington, University of Pennsylvania, University of Virginia, UC Berkeley, and University of North Carolina.

i sent a 2380 (800 M 780 CR 800 W), hoping this makes up for a small typo on my common app essay.

UC Berkeley, UNC Chapel Hill, BC (safety), Cornell, USC, NYU
