Changing topics a little… Does Umich not yet have an official results thread? Or am I just not seeing it? With the scores possibly coming out in just two days, it’d be nice of someone to create one, just to post the stats+decision.

Why? If you know your going to get in does it matter to you?

You guys need to lay off ivan. If you had great stats I’m sure you’d be more confident about your chances in getting into Michigan… just as how some people need to be realistic about their low chances others are going to be logical about their HIGH chances as well…

No need to get hostile here guys…

There are lot of students with 34 ACT scores that did not get in last year; and students with 28 that got in over the 34. Stats are not everything…there is a holistic approach to getting accepted into Michigan.

True, but someone with a 34 or 35 has a significantly better chance of getting in than someone with a 28

“there is a holistic approach to getting accepted into [insert school name].”

Said every admissions officer ever.

I’m so nervous for Friday…Michigan is my #1 choice and really don’t know what I’d do if I don’t get in. It’s kind of a reach for me so I’ve been freaking out since I submitted my app September 31. I knew that Michigan was the college I absolutely wanted to go to when I visited this summer. Has anyone been accepted to other schools yet?

Accepted into MSU, applied couple months ago lol

@cabooser did you get anything from the honors college?

Yes couple weeks after I was accepted, I received the letter in the mail saying I was invited to attend the Honors college

Every kid in the top 20 from our high school who applies to Michigan gets into Michigan. Those not in the top 20 are dicey- some get in, some get waitlisted or deferred, some are rejected. Their acceptance rate last year was 33% and they don’t have a great yield- 42% last year. Some in-state students can think of Michigan as a safety or a high match. Many don’t go there because the aid isn’t very good and they can get full ride scholarships at any other state school.

I’m wondering if they’ll switch from EA to ED to help reduce this craziness at EA time when a lot of these kids don’t choose to go there. It would help them estimate their yield better. Of all the schools my kids applied, none of the state schools offered ED. Is that true of most state schools? Is ED mainly a private school thing?

Private schools, especially Ivies, know that top students are going to apply to many top schools. In order to confirm students’ interest for their school in particular and maybe to “trap” them they use ED (top students will be accepted by the top ED school, thereby retaining their admission/commitment)

That’s my take on it anyway

I kind of wish Michigan did Early Decision. If I get accepted, I am going in a heartbeat. If their EA applications keep going at this rate, the concept of Early Action will be completely useless. If the alleged number of 30k applicants in the EA pool is true, then I don’t know how the admissions office does it.
BTW, if you’re applying to Michigan because of the parties and getting “schmacked”, then ****. Sorry not sorry.

I have a test in one IB class tomorrow, an IA in another IB class, and a quiz in AP stats and I am struggling to focus on anything besides Michigan

@Michigangirl22 what even is school all I can think about is this stupid decision

@carnold96 it’s driving me crazy! I’m just so anxious. I know there’s nothing I can do but I still spend hours every day on this site and just thinking about it in general

@Michigangirl22 I seriously need to block myself from this stupid website because I am accomplishing nothing. I will need to be checked into a mental ward if decisions aren’t out on Friday because this anticipation will literally be the end of me.

@carnold96 I know exactly how you feel. I want to stay off the site for my own sanity but at the same time, talking about it with people who can relate is the only thing keeping me sane. I’m not sure how much longer I can handle this

field trip tomorrow woop woop
