** Official Class of 2018 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

detpeace my gpa is 3.8ish… I already have semester done with college too…

ACT score will not guarantee a decision but having a below/above average score really decreases/increases your chances.

I am also probably 1st generation I think? Or if maybe my sis goes i lost that chance?

@JooHyo - you have great stats outside of your ACT. That may be your biggest worry, not AA. How is your GPA? Your class rank? Awesome community service, though!

My son has a 36 ACT, a 4.0 unweighted, and is ranked 1, and we know that there are still no guarantees. All the components of the application are important, and maybe an admissions person won’t like his essays, or view his ECs as too focused.

He has already been rejected to his top choice, so on to plan B.

In the end, I’m sure he’ll end up where he is supposed to be, and you will too. Relax and enjoy the ride!

@detpeace i come from this school called Harrison i mean its not as good but not as bad. We have pretty smart people in that school although some people maybe a little clowns sometimes. But its not prestigous and our ACT scores are pretty bad haha

@Musikman your son will get in somewhere for sure. I think he will get into Umich. What was his top choice?

Yeah, that ACT is really ruining your chances at these schools… Have you tried the SAT? It’s really different for some people. It happened to me - I took the ACT twice, got the same score twice, and wasn’t exactly happy with it - it was only average for most of the schools I was applying to. Tried the SAT, just one time, with about a week of practice - and did pretty damn well, a lot higher compared to the ACT.

yeah my gpa is around 3.8 with some numbers. and our school dont have class rank.

Any New Yorkers here? =O

Rochester, NY

NameandNumbers, Yes. Everyone says that if I’m rejected, I should just go to another school for four years instead of “wasting time” at Dearborn. People I have talked to say satellite campuses don’t give you the college experience, but I think it would be a great option, especially for myself.

@ivanov2014 thanks man. I really dont care i got into my safety school Rutgers NB SAS and Business. Yeah i guess its in the blood to suck at the ACT and SAT. TBH i have literally no endurance to go all 3 hours or so with the time limit.

Stanford. He’s been accepted at Ohio State and U of I, and we are happy about those. I think U of M is his second choice. He also applied to Rice, Miami of Ohio, and Northwestern.

New York uhhh have you been around flushing that place is GHETTO. I from Michigan and they call us freaking countryboy man they are real country boy and their dollar stores suck compare to Michigans.

I live in Manhattan! I’ve been to Flushing several times.

OSU and U of I are great schools. Nothing to be ashamed of getting rejected to Stanford. He should have tried to apply to UC Berkeley if he wanted to go to California then again Umich and Berkeley are literally same thing.

where did this 30,000 applicants number come from? Is that legit?

Yeah a lot of ghetto people at Flushing. Manhattan is great place. You guys should come by Detroit LOL you will want to leave Michigan ASAP

@joohyo farmington hills harrison?
