I really hope it’s not “just a rumor.” If nothing comes out this Friday, I literally will drop dead from waiting. I mean, I’m fairly confident that they’ll come out at the end of this week, it’s how it’s been done the last couple of years. Unless if they’re doing what they tried to pull last year, which was saying that they were “switching things up.” UGH why can’t there ever be just a straight yes or no answer???

Michigan likes surprising us obviously

Only reason I could see the deadline being extended would be the common app issues. Schools like Princeton however even extended their deadline and are still releasing on the 16th. Obviously Michigan has more apps to process, but one would still hope they stick to form with the past few years.

I was wondering if there’s a difference between what is needed for ACT scores between in state and out of state applicants. I’m in-state so I was just curious.

Did anyone apply to UMichigan SMTD?
I had extra supplements to do for the theatre major by the 1st of December… so I’m thinking that my decision date will be later? Does anyone know?

Did you apply to any other colleges/schools at UofM besides SMTD?

what time does UMICH email the decisions?
AHHHH AGH the anticipation is seriously KILLING ME!!! I keep counting down the days until Friday. I will be so *ed if its not released on Friday. I really hope I’m not deferred… ugh that would *ing suck

Theatregeek, if you applied for a dual degree I believe you’ll hear from your other college (LSA?) along with everyone else. Then SMTD will let you know about your admission at a later date. My D is applying for music so we expect to hear back by the end of December whether or not she qualifies to audition in February. We’re also waiting to hear from LSA, hopefully this week. Good luck!

BSM1987, what instrument does she play?

@BSM1987 @Miw140
Yes, I did apply to LSA too. What would happen if I am accepted to LSA, not SMTD, vice versa?

@theatregeek2526 You should receive your LSA decision either this week or next week. If you get into either school, you would still be able to attend the University of Michigan.

will michigan reject on an EA or just defer?

^ There are rarely rejections from EA.

My college counselor just confirmed decisions will be going out Friday. The waiting has gotten even more unbearable.

Did they really tell the counselors this? Can anyone confirm?

Don’t know why they’d tell our counselors but not tell the applicants anything.

Has anyone on this thread called the office up? I’ve seen mixed answers; the screenshot someone else posted said results come out end of december, while many claim that it is actually this Friday. I really hope it’s the latter, but wouldn’t they have emailed us by now saying how to access our results?

In the past there has been no advance warning, the emails just show up the day the decision is out.

Admissions has not made any statement about when they plan to release decisions, so nothing is confirmed, even if your counselor said it was for some reason. That said, given historical trends, there’s still a very good chance that decisions will be released this Friday.

Didn’t counselors receive an email last year informing them that decisions were about to be released?

I think the University has done this as common courtesy in the past, but I may be mistaken.

First off, while a large number may be released on a given day, and yes, they do give counselors a heads up, do not despair if you don’t get a decision right away…sometimes the release carries on in waves. So just be prepared – and good luck

Secondly, to theatergeek re:

Depending on which major you’re applying to, you may not know the SMTD outcome until CONSIDERABLY later than the LSA outcome – eg. March - April, especially if its an audition-related major. Each is independent of the other.

If you are accepted to both, you will be given special dual degree counseling on your orientation, and sign paperwork to say you’d like to continue in both. This is generally a good idea even IF you decide you only want theater at SMTD, because you don’t have to “drop” the LSA degree until end of sophomore year.

If you are accepted to LSA but ultimately not accepted to SMTD, while on one hand you’d be better served attending another theatre program, you would have the option of still attending UMich and attempting to transfer in via audition or portfolio the following year, that way getting some GenEds out of the way – I know a few music students who did this.
