Essays about leadership and my growth as such
Compared to those at my school, my SAT score held me up. Compared to other applicants, it was my sub-par GPA. Not the most competitive applicant. My essays probably helped.
Accepted so far: UC Davis & Mills college
waiting for all the others
- Decision: Accepted
- SAT: 1790
- UW/UC GPA: 3.67/3.92
- Extracurriculars: Varied with tons of leadership experience
- Major: Undeclared-Life Science
- How well you think you did on your essays: They were pretty solid. I’m really proud of them.
- Other factors that affected your decision: I’m low income and I go to a high school with a really low API score. Being asian probably hurt lol
I feel so insanely lucky. My stats are so low, but I guess when put in context with my background and personal statement they were seen differently.
Other acceptances: San Diego State, UC Santa Cruz, UC San Diego
Rejections/Waitlisted: N/A
Waiting for: UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine
Accepted: Environmental Science and Management
Also got provost award!
UW GPA: about 3.93?
UC GPA: 4.25 I think

IB Diploma Candidate
I’m 100% Japanese and I’m from Hawaii
Now that I think about it, I don’t really know how I was fortunate enough to be accepted, and moreover, to receive the award. I’m not a very competitive candidate, and there’s nothing really special that I did. My GPA is okay… I’m in the first decile at my school, but nowhere near the top. My test scores are severely low.
I’m so lucky and thankful!

Good essays
Probably won’t attend because I got the likely letter from UCLA and regents from UCSB. Davis is an awesome school though. Congrats to everyone who got in :^) This weekend was crazy.
I know this is a thread for Freshman applicants, but I have a question. I am a transfer students who applied for UCD Fall 2015. The website we use to check our admissions decision is MyAdmissions right? Also, I was able to sign into a MyUCDavis account and I thought those were for admitted students only? I’m still pending review apparently.
@KingOfTheClouds When decisions are posted, then the pending review status page you saw will change to whether you’ve been accepted or not.
@lollicupcatxx okay! Thank you very much!
It seems far too many cases where someone with excellent stats got rejected by UCD but got accepted in UCSD. Do the UCs really talk to each other? or Do they have a mechanism to figure it out?
lil late but…
rejected for psychology!
uc gpa 3.73 sat 1850
didn’t really expect to get in but still wanted to haha

Hi does the admission percentage change depending on what major chosen?
See how UC Davis admits applicants:
Most applicants are admitted by College except Engineering which admits by academic department.
http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/admission/freshmen/fr_selection_process.cfm
I have never found acceptance rates by major listed anywhere but assume the most competitive majors: Engineering/CS/Biology would have the lowest acceptance rates.
Oh thank you! Well I was admitted to UCDavis majoring in biology sciences! Can’t believe it my gpa is 3.6 and my SAT score were not to great!
Accepted
SAT 1970
GPA 4.0 (out of 4.0)
International
Can someone tell me which one is better? UCD or UCSB??? I’m really confused and can’t decide between these two!
