Official Class of 2020 Northeastern University Regular Decision Discussion

I was accepted to the NUin Program at Northeastern University! I was deferred Early Action, and my stats are very low compared to everybody else’s stats.

GPA: 3.4 UW 3.9 W (According to the scale on collegeboard’s website)
ACT: 27 ACT (And that’s superscored, 25 without the superscore)
I didn’t send in my SAT’s.

I think that a common misconception people are that people have been focused primarily grades and standardized test scores, but keep in mind that it’s so much more than that. I’ve been told my lots of people that I wouldn’t get in because of my GPA and scores, but I still got in regardless of them. Although the GPA and scores have a say, don’t forget there are essays, activities, leadership, community service, and letters of recommendations. Many people think that their extracurricular activities are good, and I’m not saying that they aren’t, but there is a sentimental part of the college admissions process as well.

Either way, Congratulations to everyone who was accepted, and for those who were waitlisted, there is still hope! Good luck to everyone!

Accepted, with SAT 2120!!

I got accepted two days ago in the program for undeclared students with $30k scholarship! i’m so excited, northeastern is one of my top schools. i was originally deferred in december.

GPA: 3.9
ACT: 32
SAT: 1960 (superscored)
Clubs/activites: NHS, Key Club, Gay-Straight Alliance, Varsity tennis, basketball, and badminton

Hi, I got accepted on Tuesday, March 15th. I was previously deferred. My ACT score was a 32 and i have a high GPA ( 3.8) i got 10K in merit scholarship. Congrats to everyone who got in

@kayrofay, I am wondering about your scholarship amount. Would you mind sharing if it was partially need based?

@searchngmom - There is a 30k scholarship for National Merit. That might be what @kayrofay is referring to.

Oh! That is awesome. I
Thanks!

Accepted to NU in with 31 ACT and 3.85 GPA

I wonder if everyone that got in showed ‘interest’ cause I definitely had the stats to get in but wasn’t offered admission and to be frank I wasn’t interested in the school but the rejection itself hurts LOL

To anyone who was accepted to “NUin,” seriously consider it! My brother went on it in his first term to London and said it was unbelievable. He met many of his best friends there. I wish I had gotten it!

@Upenngirl98 I don’t think showing interest was the factor you think. I literally completed the app about 11;45 New Year’s Eve simply because I had a list of no essay schools I thought I would apply to for the heck of it as “safeties”. I never followed up or inquired about a visit. Got accepted RD in early February with nice merit. Their approach seems to work because now I am way more interested and actually going to visit in early April for Admitted students day.
Good luck to you on your other schools.

Re: Merit scholarships at NEU. When posters are including a figure (e.g. $30,000) - is that per year, or is it total for 4 years ($7.5K per year)? It would be helpful if you could clarify when posting. Thank you!

is there any group on groupme for 2020 class?

@DarwinKnew

Those posting 30k and under are probably posting yearly - anything over that would be total since yearly would be impossible - 30k a year is the largest one offered besides the University Scholars Program, who had decisions released in February.

D accepted NU in, nursing

The financial aid award letter is on their log in portal. My daughter got accepted to N.U.in but literally no $$$ so we won’t be going there.

I believe there were over 51,000 applicants and only 2800 spots. But I know quite a few kids who got in with no aid and aren’t going there since it is so expensive.

@DarwinKnew My D was offered $30k per year as a National Merit Finalist. They actually split it into $15k per semester for 8 semesters to account for semesters when you’re on co-op.

2800 spots… But how many were accepted in order to fill these spots, does anyone know?

I don’t think they’ve released official acceptance rate yet, but they have said the total number of applicants this year (just over 51,000, I think).
