@Shreya18 I guess it depends on your grades/transcripts, activities, common app essay, reccomendations and extra-curricullars.
Do international applicants have to fill up the FAFSA/CSS??
@lolonimous International students who are aiming for financial aid usually fill out the CSS Profile since the FAFSA is only available for American citizens; however, Northeastern does not accept the CSS Profile from international students either.
What are usually the lowest numbers for the honors college? I heard 33/2200…
From the Northeastern website:
"Does Northeastern offer scholarships and/or aid for international students?
A: International students are fully eligible for Northeastern’s merit scholarships. All international students will be automatically considered for and offered merit scholarships, if applicable.
Financial need-based aid will be offered to students who are U.S. Citizens, as well as eligible noncitizens, upon completion of the necessary forms."
I wouldn’t guess the honors college numbers - things have changed over the years - my daughter got in in 2012 with 33 but that was 5 admission cycles ago and things have gotten more competitive and every year there are new wrinkles that change the admission process - introducing ED, NUin preference, no more university scholars, etc. People post here every year with very high stats and don’t get in at all - so who knows?
@kiddie – I have read that University Scholars is no more, but that something is replacing it. Not sure what that means. Sorry if this was covered in another part of the thread, but I am wondering if NEU will be offering any full-tuition scholarships. Will there still be an honors college? The NEU website still lists University Scholars info.
Honors is here to stay (they just hired a new honors director over the summer) - but what the program will turn into is unknown - it will most likely evolve with the new director. I don’t see them offering full-tuition scholarships any more (except the ones for first generation Boston - torch scholars.) That being said - we won’t know exactly until the ED/EA decisions are released and people say what offers they have gotten. (There was nothing about university scholars on the website until after kids were accepted into it for the first time in 2012.)
@OCNYmom When I visited Northeastern, an admissions counselor told me they had gotten rid of the full tuition scholarship program in favor of giving out the lesser scholarships to more students.
anyone know when ED decisions are released? is it next week?
I’m betting on next week, around the 6th/7th/8th for ED…but 2014/2015 decisions were released on the second Tuesdays of December, so Dec 13th this year is a possibility too
In the past ED decisions have come out a week before EA decisions. For this year the most likely dates are 12/6 for ED and 12/13 for EA.
I’m getting excited! Hopefully the aid is good!
It’s hard to believe that there are only two weeks before decisions come back! (One week for ED!)
Emails that you get from Student Financial Services don’t mean anything, right? My parents are kind of freaking out (in a good way) because I got an email today from them asking to send in my parent’s federal tax returns.
@Bozusaki Hmmmm! Not sure but you will find out in a week or two.
No, @Bozusaki , sorry. I’ve gotten those from colleges my daughter applied to the day before.
Is anyone on the CSSH prospective students web chat right now?
My son has applied EA with a combined SAT of 1430 (weighted GPA of 4.9). His November SAT’s just came back and his super score is now 1520. NEU’s website says that “November SAT’s will be considered for EA if the scores are received by 12/1”. But College Board doesn’t process and issue the scores to the school that quickly. He did email admissions and advised them of the new super score - but they replied and said it can take 2 weeks for the scores to be updated. So my question is do you think they will consider the 1520 score in his EA decision or no way. And what are the chances with 1430?
Just send it - you will have no way of knowing.
