[] Essays (subject and responses): common app essay: about how my political views were influenced by my extremely liberal/somewhat closed-minded hometown and my brother considering joining the military - forced me to step back from the bubble and see things differently. leader essay: wrote a letter to Anthony Weiner, urging him to return to politics- explained why he should not have resigned because of his scandal and how his voice was extremely important in our government.
[] Teacher Recs: fantastic. Had great relationships with both of the teachers who wrote mine - got to read one of the letters and it was extremely positive, confident the other was similar.

[] Hook (if any): I’m a pretty academically inclined person but I’m also a very accomplished artist… CMC’s not huge in the arts, maybe they liked me for the diversity? Haha not sure

This year regarding of the scandal issue, CMC admission is still a very tough one.

…
…
“Congratulations! The Admission Committee at Claremont McKenna College has voted to offer you admission under our Early Decision II plan for the Class of 2016 which will enroll here in late August. This year we had a 40% increase in the number of Early Decision II applications we received compared to last year. The group was also very strong. Because only 20% were admitted, you should feel especially proud of yourself.”

…

The information about the “SAT scandal” came after the application deadline, so it did not influence the number of EDII applicants.

Nevertheless, the scandal may influence yield. If that is the case, than one may expect CMC to either admit more students/seat this year (if they are forward looking) or rely more on the waiting list (if they would prefer to “wait and see”).
