I never received anything about an interview and nothing about an account to set up. But I also never received anything about missing files from my app. Should I be worried?

Divy, neither did I, and then I wound up getting a likely. Don’t fret; just check the portal to see that they’ve got everything from you that they require.

That’s another issue I never got a portal login.

Is it too late to be contacted for an interview? I actually like alumni interviews, as weird as it sounds. It gives a chance to learn more about the college from a former student’s perspective.

@Divy1234- Your login is your Columbia ID number. They should’ve emailed it to you about a few weeks after you submitted your application.

Did anyone who got a likely letter get a financial aid estimate too? I’m just curious as to whether or not we’ll get an early peek at that as well.

@Catsmeller I just got a letter summarizing their financial aid policies, but no estimate. I think that’s going to come in March. And I know I asked this before, but does anyone know if students with likely letters can join the Facebook group? I’m afraid to ask to join haha

Just got a likely letter!!! (well, e-mail i guess) AH IM SO EXCITED. I’m not a recruited athlete and I don’t have outstanding stats, but I am an URM (native american), so I guess that probably played a part. Here are my stats for anyone who is interested:

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT Total: 2190 M: 680, CR: 760, WR: 750 (so @trackandhp7, i think you’re fine with 2330 :))
[] ACT: 33
[] SAT Subject Tests: Literature: 750, Math 2: 740, Physics: 640 (i know, really bad)

[] Essays: really solid. Both my mom (an experienced writer), and my english teacher (who is extremely tough on essays) said they were good. I worked soooo hard on these. Well, except my “Why Columbia” one. I wrote that like 15 minutes before submitting the app.
[] Teacher Recs: I don’t really know, they were probably ok, but not phenomenal. wasn’t super close to the teachers.
[] Counselor Rec: Probably genericish
[] EC highlights (leadership in parentheses): Cross country 4 years (captian, top varsity runner), track 4 years (varsity distance), mock trial 4 years (president, lead attorney), NJROTC 4 years (Executive Officer, Safety and Training Officer), choir 3 years (alto section leader), I also worked two years at a summer camp as a crafts leader/counselor (wrote my EC essay about)[/ul]

[] Job/Work Experience: None
[] Volunteer/Community service: Library Volunteering, SAT Tutoring
[] Summer Activities: Library Volunteering, Research, SAT Tutoring
[] Essays: Talked about my love for science. Had a great introduction where I oddly described the physics of skateboarding. Worked on it for a week. Didn’t talk about ME too much, but it WAS option number 6.
[] Teacher Recommendation: One was great (from my research mentor), and the other one, which I saw later, was from my physics teacher and was a POS. They probably figured out that my physics teacher was a lazy moron :).
[] Counselor Rec: Probably mediocre. I switched counselors in the beginning of my senior year. She probably checked off top 1% and whatever, but the letter probably was meh.
[] Additional Rec: Columbia doesn’t want these. I did put in an abstract from my research and listed my awards as a supplement.
[] Interview:In an endocrinologist’s office. It went pretty well, but he did frown upon the fact that I hadn’t visited Columbia. Otherwise, he seemed kinda impressed, I guess. When he emailed me back after I gave him a thank you email, he said he hoped that I got in. Take that for what it’s worth…[/ul]Other

yoyoma908, you just got accepted RD?! why so early and how?? but congratulations!!!

@EDhelp123 i think perhaps yoyoma908 meant he/she received a likely letter? i’m just guessing but if that’s not true then CONGRATS yoyoma908! that’s awesome!

does anyone have any plans on how to spend march 28th before 5pm?

Hey guys. I forgot to mention that I got a likely letter. Thanks for the congratulations; you won’t believe how butt-hurt my classmates are!

@yoyoma908 - Congratulations!! :D

@lucya01995 - For me it’s going to be March 29th 4 am (here in India).

I know I won’t be able to sleep. So I guess I’ll have a movie marathon and then play FIFA to pass time!! Haha!! :D

Ohh, btw - I am too lazy to see if this has been talked about before, but does anyone know how much time it takes them to update your financial aid application status - after you’ve faxed them the tax forms/etc??

^That’s my question too…I have faxed them my father’s tax return thrice!!!

call them once and ask them. theyll prolly update by the end of the day.

Think I saw on the Yale or Brown site that they update it every 3-4 days. I presume Columbia is the same.

I guess I’ll take Iboss’ cue, wait for a day or two and then send them an email. :D
