Thought I was a big freak but hooray for over achievement even in college admissions and a drive to suceed!

I applied to 7 schools and I thought that was a lot. The problem with applying to a lot of schools is that I’m having trouble finding the motivation to apply for scholarships…

@ enza junior I just finished my 10th. I need to do scholarships, but I’m just burnt out haha

Sooo…what creative piece did you guys find meaning in?

TIME Magazine. How about you?

Lol after a list of deep meaningful books that people would obviously find meaning in…i found meaning in the Emperor’s New Groove hahaha

Hello everyone!

hello alexissss!

ram, I’m very interested in the meaning you found, please explain. I love that movie!

I thought it was just meaningful to me bc I was once an egotistical honors student (Kuzco), then I failed a test (Yzma turns him into a llama after taking his throne), I’m forced to go to the tutoring center (Kuzco asks Pacha for help/learns humility), i retake and pass the test (Kuzco defeats Yzma and gains an appreciation for all he has).

I found meaning in The Bluest Eye.

OMG I love The Emperor’s New Groove. :D

I wrote about Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

I chose The Paradox of Choice by Barry Schwartz.

Also…applied to 9 schools in the US, 6 of them Ivies plus chicago amherst and williams

Well, I broadened the horizon of the prompt (using “cultural event”) to speak about a “lecture on the Aborigines in Australia” that I attended!!
In short, I said that unplanned urbanization was not only a threat to the environment but also a threat to our culture & diversity!! But now I feel, I should have played it safe & written about some book/movie!!

Panic attack has set in now, anyone know any good (safety kind) colleges to apply to which have no application fee & no supplement??

my creative piece was about the golden ratio and fibonacci numbers, that sort of thing. related to me because of my visual arts/engineering background. i applied to uchic, brown, cornell, princeton as my hardests… my chances are diminutive for all though as my GPA is not up to par with SATs.
theres something to be said for idealism, eh?

i wrote it on lord of the rings. Lol.

Class of 2017! International student (Nigerian to be precise)
Been done with RD application since Oct. (applied ED to Princeton and got deferred)
Btw, I applied with aid… Hope I’m one of d few Africans that they take this year. fingers crossed

I wrote it about “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde.

Wrote it on The Road to Serfdom - FA Hayek

I compared two short stories I read for literature, “Araby” by James Joyce and “The Garden Party” by Katherine Mansfield, how they are both about growing up.

I wrote about Roger Water’s (Pink Floyd) The Wall Tour. It’s something a little bit different and kind of gutsy, but I enjoyed writing the essay because it’s my favorite album and because of the message behind it. Hopefully it works out… haha
