I did the same thing.

I've seen a lot of questions about the "If you have attended any other Secondary Schools, summer schools, or programs since ninth grade" box, but haven't found how to submit attending a People to People program. It won't show up on my transcript (my counselor is really difficult to work with). I'm not sure if I should try to put it in one of the extra sections or not.

Also-- I'm not sure what to do about dual enrollment. My school just made AP English dually enrolled with a community college. I don't know if I should list the college under "Other College/University Credit" section or just not mention it.

I hope I'm not being too repetitive.

I have a question on the University of San Diego app.

It's part of Common Application. Their Letter of Recc wants a school advisor/counselor/principal to complete it. I really want my teacher (who's writing my other letters) to do it instead, so can I just use the Common App teacher evaluation form?

You must follow the college's instructions. I would use the Common App teacher evaluation form and give it to the school adivisor, counselor, or principal. I believe there's a line where you state their title so I'm sure they'll put it there. I'd also make a note of it when I sent those recommendations in that although the teacher evaluation/recommendation form is being used, the recommender is actually a school official.

If I paste a picture into a word document with my essay, and then upload that to the common app website, will that work? Will admissions officers see the picture?

I have 2 questions that I haven't been able to find on this exhaustingly long thread, I hope someone can help answer them.

1. For academic honors, do we have to write in complete sentences? For example, I could either write "I am a National Merit Finalist, I was inducted into NHS, and I am a National AP Scholar" or "National Merit Finalist; NHS; National Ap Scholar." Which one?

2. Has anyone submitted the Common App already and used the link to alter the application for a different school? Does it work?

Thanks for the help, good luck to ED/EA applicants!

You do not need complete sentences. The feature to make changeable copies of the app works fine.

Coolman - if it shows up in the preview of the application then they will see the picture.

Thank you, tphssenior! It was frustrating because I tried to write complete sentences (which just sounded awkward) and I also ran out of room immediately. sheepish

Sorry guys, one last question.

If we're doing a topic of our choice (essay choice 6) do we have to write a prompt at the beginning of the essay or simply just submit the essay? Thanks!

From CommonApp.org:

Alternate application versions can be used in the event an applicant chooses to provide slightly different information to one institution from another institution.

Is this true? I remember reading before that you couldn't make changes after pressing "Submit." Did they mean that you couldn't make changes on your app to ONLY College X after submitting to College X?

stiffcelery,

Add the prompt at the beginning.

roxxy,

You can't make changes to ones you already submitted. But you can create another version to send to another college.

I submitted my application two weeks ago and recently wrote an essay for the UCs that my parents think I did quite well on. My dad suggests that I include it for the colleges as a supplement that aren't the UCs. I've already submitted my applications and so my Common App is locked.

Is there still a chance that I may include the additional essay?

another question regarding topic 6--how specific should your prompt be. Would something like "describe your best memory" or something like that work? Also do you need to put a title on your essay?

Quixotic- The Common app is no longer locked. You can open a new app. version and put in the new essay.

stiffcelery - yes, and it worked out fine - be sure to preview absolutely everything though, before you submit and make sure you submit the supplement with the correct version. It transferred everything but uploaded documents. It kept the short answer but you can delete it and add a new one. This is not an option for updating an application that you have already submitted. Once you have submitted a version to the school you cannot choose that school again for a second version. If you need to update your application to a school I believe you will have to contact the school.

Stiffcelery,

How do you know that your are a National Merit Finalist? Those don't come out until February. Do you mean National Merit Semi-finalist?

Jym: What do you mean open up a new one? I cannot add anything to the supplments, as I've already submitted them.

Do I just e-mail the college or is it really too late?

quixotic-
You can't change an application once it has been sent to a specific college, but if you want to send an application to a new school you can open a "new version" and make changes, put in a new essay, etc. Common app. changed this on Oct. 19, if I recall correctly. You might want to check ofr other posts about this on that date.

Oh, okay, thanks. I suppose it's too late.
