OFFICIAL Common Application Questions Thread

i put my SS# and DOB (and name of course)
when you do it online, you sign the ED after you click submit. so yeah, if you print preview it will show up blank until you submit.

Mairoula: I didn't type my SSN or DOB because when I printed my copy out, the Common App prepopulated my name and ID number automatically.

Thank you all! I <3 CC. Seriously.

i just realized on the counselor form, I forgot to waive my right to see the recc and sign it. That box is blank. I completed it for my teacher rec form, but I just forgot for counselor. Is it a big deal? what should i do?

geez I think I forgot to sign it on any of them....I was in such a rush to get it to them. anybody?

Where do you put down your volunteer hours? Do you just put it into additional information?

Thanks.

Oh gosh-- I would have forgotten to sign that part if you hadn't brought it up! You should probably email or call the Admissions Office to tell them about the mistake. I'm not sure how monumental the signatures are, but at least get in touch.

Also, I think I asked earlier, but now I'm really desperate. Has anyone else figured out how to show dual enrollment? I only have it for AP English, which is dually enrolled with a college around here. We never actually take classes at the college-- it's just a new program my school came up with this year to make things look flashier, I think (which is a failure, but that's another story).

i do dual enrollment, and it says to list CC classes in the additional information box.

but for your program, i am not exactly sure if thats what you would do. sorry.

I think I'll just list it in the additional info box--I don't want to put down that I was actually taking a college course, and hopefully my counselor mentioned it in his letter. Who knows.

Thanks!

where should i list these? (under awards and honors, other coursework, or educational preparational programs?)
CPR certified
Swimming class(2 summers every day)
beginning guitar(6 week class)
advanced web page design(semester class held at high school)
memory class(2 weeks, 5 hours a week)

I asked the CommonApp people and they said I have to turn in a transcript with my Secondary School Report. Kind of sucks. I wanted to wait to midyear grades.

extremely dumb question...but Common App Secondary Reports (as well as the others) says to print in black ink. One of my teachers filled it out in Blue ink and i made the copies not noticing..this isnt going to pose a problem is it? Blue ink is acceptable?

I don't think it'll matter. They won't be able to tell the color when you photocopy.

its on the original..which im sending to my Number 1 school..and yes they will because the copies are in color...so its still visible.

are we not allowed to change stuff in the common app that we have already submitted for the early application?

i tried to change stuff for my regular apps.. but i couldn't make any changes

does that mean that we have to go with the same exact application for all the schools that we apply for regular?

flaming spirits: seriously, that's nothing to worry about.
luckycoin777 you can make a new version now. look through this thread. or google it. or look in the common app instructions.
I'm bumping my question...
"i just realized on the counselor form, I forgot to waive my right to see the recc and sign it. That box is blank. I completed it for my teacher rec form, but I just forgot for counselor. Is it a big deal? what should i do?"

@ flameing: I doubt it'll matter. As long as it's not a weird color like pink or something.

ummmmm question?

for the activities paragraph on the common app to expand on one of our activities.... so i have seen one of my teachers recs and she talks about me being in this group at my school called ASPEN and she says it ina great way. So would it be pointless for me to write a paragraph on that, and should i choose another activity to elaborate on?

thanks, can anyone help?

Yeah, maybe it'd be better not to write about a school or academic activity.

well i do have to write about an activity i listed right........ i think writing about community service would be a good one maybe? and what it means to me.
