If you printed the forms out from the internet it shouldn't say that, but if you're getting them out of the booklet, it just wants you to take the forms out of the booklet so you can give them to your teachers.

wait a minute..u HAVE to have the booklet when your doing paper apps?? I just printed the forms out and planning on submitting those...'

RANE: i think its fine, i have the same..they should see its printed.

With the different application versions, I've heard that the application number is different on each, which means it won't match the number on my teacher rec. and school forms. Does that matter? Or do I have to ask my teachers to fill out the sheets again?

I'd like to know the answer to Doodle's question, too.

roxxy/doodle - Schools are really quite good at opening envelopes and matching the contents with the applicant. I doubt they will throw anything away just because the numbers do not match, when the name, address, etc do match.

Thanks for the speedy reply, anotherparent!

How long should the common app essay be? There is no word limit stated in the instructions, but I have a feeling no one wants to read an essay of epic proportions or the next War and Peace...

~500 words.

since the need based financial aid button is required, what should you put?

by saying no aren't you automatically taking away any possible financial aid option associated w/ the need based?

a little confused so any input?

Ok, third time's the charm :D. I have a situation with my extracurriculars where one of them is BIweekly. Can I just count the week I actually do something and toss out the other week?

Oh and I was also wondering the same thing as lilshamz about the financial aid.

Okay, so I just finished the common app, and went to preview it...

Is it just me, or does the application look really unorganized and all over the place on paper? Ughh.

ttyswt: just estimate hours, advisor told me they dont check, and even if they do they wont have much of a problem, just if ur doing the EC 2 hours every 2 weeks, for 10 weeks...dont say u do it 2 hours a week for 30 weeks..somethign u know what i mean?
if its 2 hours every 2 weeks, you would want to say its 1 hour per week.

lilshamz: i would say, put yes, even if u arent eligible, because by chance u might get it..and even if ur not, they will probably rejected..i dont think that would make a difference in their decision.

ohayo: it says minimum 500 words...so dont go overboard to like 900 or 1000. FYI mine is currently 750, i know its a bit long, but its pretty interesting and im sure they wont even realize the length.

**still waiting repsonse for my question:

u HAVE to have the booklet when your doing paper apps?? I just printed the forms out and planning on submitting those...is that ok?

Just a general question on Midyear reports - what exactly is reported? First marking period, second marking period, and midterms? Are they all separate grades, or is it all averaged together as one?

Semester grades.

Flaming - The common app says minimum 250 words, not minimum 500 words, unless I missed something.

Yep. That's what it says. There's no max, just a min of 250.

This sounds really stupid, but to make sure... when it says to sign at the end, you just type your name, right?

Yep, just type in your name.

When we list our current senior year courses in the academics section, I'm unsure whether to put Macroeconomics AP for the first semester and Microeconomics AP for the second semester. On our transcript, it will just say Economics AP. Should I just put Economics AP for both semesters?

Also, when assigning credit value, I looked at my transcript and each class receives 5.00 credits per semester. Do I put that?
