Taylor, I’m sorry your interview didn’t go well If it makes you feel any better, the interviews can only help you, they can’t really hurt you unless you show up in really horrific shape. Every interview, and every interviewer, is different. So you might have just gotten the shorter straw. I wouldn’t dwell on it. Think positive. Your achievements and your essays say more about you than one person ever would be able to.

Has anyone applied as a food science major in CALS?

i just got an e-mail a few hours ago from a CAAAN volunteer. can anyone tell me how large of an impact these interviews may have? and i didn’t know they scheduled interviews so late! i read somewhere that there is a “secret deadline” for CAAAN interviews, and i sent all my materials on Nov. 4, the night before the deadline…

Hey guys. I completed the CSS Profile before November 1st and thought I had everything in, but I just noticed that I was supposed to send in copies of my tax returns! Its way past the deadline for that, what do I do? And will this affect my application decision?

@presidentsaad I did the exact same thing!!! I cried for an hour thinking that if by a miracle I got in, I wouldn’t be able to afford it!!!

@Kaitlynmills95 I just emailed them, so hopefully they will get back to me soon. I can’t believe I overlooked that!

I overlooked it too! It was actually like 11pm on October 31 that I noticed it… I couldn’t believe it. all day the next day I was excusing myself from class to go to the bathroom to try and call Cornell to ask if it’d be okay if I sent it in late (turns out I had the wrong number!) It was a really terrible, stressful day because it turns out my dad couldn’t find his forms, etc. Anyway, I did email them and they said just get them in ASAP. I’d suggest while you are waiting for a response, you can be gathering your forms and sending them in. Good luck! I’m sure itll be no big deal since you sent in your CSS profile

oh my GOD i’m such an idiot… an alumnus e-mailed me 2 weeks back to schedule a meeting, and i didn’t notice it.

I had a question regarding financial aid to-do lists. If I do not have a job or never “worked” for pay, why does it say they require a copy of my Student Prior Year Federal Tax? Thanks.

Oh crap! I forgot to submit my parents’ tax returns as well! I just emailed the admissions office. Thanks for posting this, or else I probably never would have realized. Also, I submitted the CSS profile but not the tax returns, but why does my financial aid application status say “no current to do items”?? I obviously have to do items!

^ *financial aid office

@lmj21682 Another Southerner?
Also, if you qualify to have to file your own taxes I think, i’m not completely sure, but I believe they’ll want you to turn those in as well.

Also, I did send in my tax stuff but it is still on my “to-do list”. Have they not processed it yet? Should I be worried at all? I suppose if they didn’t get it they’d let me know if I get accepted…

@Newberry When did you send in your taxes (how long has it been on your to do list?)

I sent them in a few days before my application, so in late October. For a time there wasn’t anything on my to-do list, then both items were on the list, and after about a week the CSS forms went away but tax returns remain.

@AlphaOrionis Let me know what the Financial Aid Office says when they reply!

I misunderstood, I had the opposite problem! I sent all my tax forms an stuff just no PROFILE. Why do they need both??? Hahahaha isn’t one good enough?

@Newberry, I emailed the financial aid office and asked if they received my forms, and they said they had, and then updated my to do list.

And I think they want the tax returns in addition to the profile because they want to be able to confirm you’re not making up numbers

WAIT. WHAT?

I had no idea tax returns were even necessary–I thought that mess started when one actually got in?
Oh my god, I’m screwed. Why isn’t that on my “to-do” list? Where in the world did they mention that was necessary.

*Very confused first gen here. Help!

Oh god I had no idea about tax returns form… I did submit my CSS profile, and there is nothing on to-do list either. I guess this form doesn’t matter for now since they don’t look at financial stuff before they admit you. I just emailed the undergraduate admissions office and asked about this form. In my opinion, it has nothing to do with your admission but once you get in this form is necessary. I guess people who haven’t submitted this thing, including me, have to submit this soon. Oh god… why is this always so complicated…

merrhrhrrhr. Double checked and it’s still on there. I’ll send them an email. Thanks!
