Official Cornell Early Decision Class of 2017

the last e-mail i’ve received from cornell was for my applicant id. i haven’t received anything else

i wish i was good at sports

Quick question: Do they even look at your economic status when reviewing your application?

No, Cornell is need-blind meaning they do it completely separate and they don’t know if you applied for financial aid when they review your application.

@13SUNX-we should get our pins a few days before decisions are released, so we’ve still got awhile.
@Battlebrick- I agree with Dreaming. Oldfort posted earlier that it doesn’t mean much at all. At least it can’t be a bad thing!

Looked over my portfolio submission. Noticed a few minor typos. Wah.
Oh well

Yes, Cornell is need blind, but they do know if you are applying for FA because it is part of Common Application.

Do you intend to apply for need-based financial aid?
Do you intend to apply for merit-based scholarships?
Do you intend to be a full-time student?
Do you intend to enroll in a degree program your first year?
Do you intend to live in college housing? ______________________________
What is the highest degree you intend to earn? _________________________

^Cornell does not require (or offer) answers to those questions. They are in the “future plans” section of the Common App, which for cornell was just ED/RD and what are your intended fields of study.

Thanks! I’m so excited! No idea really what to expect! But really looking forward to it all, especially the cool aid and pop tarts!! once everyone else finds out (best of luck!!!) maybe we can all join a Facebook group or something!

Did anyone apply to CAS for the China and Asia-Pacific Studies major?

@collegegirl10931 I applied to CALS for nutrition science. SOOOO FRICKING NERVOUSSSS. I want to hear back!!

I just hope that everyone here gets in. I know it’s overly optimistic because inevitably, there are going to be rejections or deferrals. I don’t count myself for anything special, so Im hoping for myself as well! Regardless, I believe that everyone here is intelligent and talented (hey, we applied for a reason!) and will end up where fate meant them to. /endsappypost

Thanks ergalassi! I agree!!!

Why wait for when we find out? We should start a facebook group now! haha. You all seem like fine people

I couldn’t agree more, ergalassi! Hopefully if I don’t get in there will be a place (and enough money) for me at Carnegie Mellon or UGA (:

@ladeedaax- a prospective group would be cool, i’d join! Even if we don’t all get in, it would at least be cool to get to know each other and possibly keep track of acceptances elsewhere and etc.

will they accept nov 17 makeup sat1 scores?
they come out on dec 4

Awesome! How should I go about creating it/adding people?

Well, you could do just “Cornell 2017 Prospectives” or something along those lines, or narrow it down to “Cornell 2017 College Confidential Prospectives”. The first may encourage others outside of CC as well as current students (but you may want to consider adding the word “unofficial” to be safe and all). Anything like that should work, I think :)

Hey everyone!
just wanted to talk about the e-mail i got.
So, i am basically an international applicant and it says on the Cornell website that the additional materials are to be submitted UPON REQUEST only.
SOOO, the e-mail they sent me requested exactly those documents only.
So, why would they say on the website that additional materials should be submitted upon request only if they had to ask everyone???
And if they dont ask everyone then it should mean that they ask only accepted applicants right???
So, i got the request, so does it mean i am accepted???
Tell me what u guys think , please…
Here is the link:-
[International Applicants | Financial Aid](Prospective International Applicants | Financial Aid)

any other international applicants here who got his e-mail???

http://www.facebook.com/groups/199729336830915/

I’m not completely sure, but I think that the financial aid office and admissions office are 100% seperate. As in they calculate aid packages for everyone regardless of whether or not they were accepted. If you are accepted, then you get the package they created. So what I think is happening with you is the financial aid office is having trouble calculating a package based on the information initially given (maybe they need supporting evidence because you are an international applicant and tax forms aren’t enough). We will never know though… :frowning: god this is stressful!
