Official Cornell Early Decision Class of 2018

how do newly admitted students find out their Cornell ID?

any accepted korean students at cornell? :D

^yeah that’s something I’ve been wondering too. Has anyone received their NetID yet?

Has anyone else not received their acceptance in the mail yet?

i got my acceptance in the mail the day after

The same with me :)

After the acceptance letter, do we get a package or something more formal? I got into my safety a week before cornell and they gave me a really nice packet full of info and a folder that had fun facts. Does cornell do this too or do we have to wait it until April before anything new comes up?

hockeyeng–my son’s acceptance letter was postmarked Dec 16th and arrived yesterday. We live four hours from Cornell so I don’t know where it went for ten days.

Ct1417- thank you that’s encouraging. I’m going to guess you live in Connecticut…? I live in CT too and am about 4 hours away. Hopefully it comes soon!

hockey–yes, I live in CT, so perhaps your letter will arrive tomorrow or Tuesday. All I can say is that it is a good thing we weren’t waiting for snail mail for the actual decision.

Random amusing note: the enrollment deposit appears on my charge card statement as being booked in New Haven, but then when I expand to further details, I see that the charge was processed by some agency in Massachusetts! So much for the NY-based school.

Hey guys, is there any way those of you who were accepted (or deferred or rejected) can post your statistics on the Cornell ED 2018 Results thread? I’m a Cornell Class of 2019 hopeful and I may apply early, so I want to get a good look at other people’s stats. Thanks! And congrats to those accepted!

What did you guys actually think about the stats part of college admissions. Although it put things in perspective, I thought it took away from the cusp of college admissions. Seeing everyone’s awards, scores, research… derailed me when I was writing essays, and it completely sucked the vitality out of me.

Also, how many people per dorm?

@FluffyPandas, I have realized that ‘stats’ are really only the surface of an application. Test Scores and GPAs- we interpret them to be good or bad. But adcoms aren’t looking for something that relative. They are looking to be impressed. They are looking for the well-rounded community with its fair share of intellectuals, athletes, musicians, artists, and other people with compelling stories to tell. Notice how ‘valedictorian’ or ‘perfect SAT scorer’ aren’t categories in that list- these are accomplishments that provide numbers, not stories.

By stats I mean not just test scores and GPAs - GPAs are irrelevant anyway because schools do them so differently. I’m looking for extracurriculars, essay topics, awards, anything that makes an applicant original.

What now? I submitted the admissions deposit. Do we not get our net ID yet? Is there nothing we have to do until April?

https://newstudents.cornell.edu/first-year/todolist/</a> is that for us or for class of '17?

@Cole8865, I would also like to know when the NetIDs are issued. Do we wait until April time for all of the information to come and if so, is there nothing required of us during this time period?

@SSSSSSCCCCC I actually want to know the same thing… It’s probably for us if you look at the dates but theres so much we cant do

Do we have any kind of accepted class group?
