Thanks Coriander!

In response to the first quarter grades issue, I take dual enrollment classes through a university. These show up on my report card, but none of the grades do. When our mid-term grades were released a couple of weeks ago, I decided to send them unofficially to Cornell because the college (St. Bonaventure University) won’t send them until they’re official until the end of the semester. I figured, why the heck not, they can see on my application that I’m taking these college classes, but they might as well see how I’m doing in them. I’m also hoping it will help make up for my Math SAT score.

Calculus I- A-
Composition and Critical Thinking I- A
Latin 101- A
American Politics- A
Plants and Human Culture- A

Anyone think this was a good idea or that they’ll even look at them? I explained in my application that they’re all college courses taught by college professors on a college campus. Also, applying Environmental Engineering to CALS. Thanks!

still no ID, and I applied last Wednesday and have received confirmation from CommonApp that everything was submitted. any reason for concern or are they just backed up right now?

They’re most likely backed up/still processing applications like mad. Cornell’s official blog says to wait 10 days before contacting them about your applicant ID.

Does anyone know why Cornell chooses not to look at the writing section of the sat?

@daonardo33 I read on their admissions blog that they consider the writing SAT based on the college/major applied to. Because many of these do not require a high writing score, they do not publish the information.

oh gotcha, thanks wiscarol

@wiscarol: do you have a link to this post?

Just friendly advice to all: I don’t recommend spending too much time on the ED threads from previous years. You’ll drive yourself crazy trying to compare your stats to those of applicants who were accepted/rejected/deferred.

@bojl95 Sure! about halfway down this page- the date is Nov 22. It’s from 2011 but I’m sure if something changed they would just delete it. [Early Decision | Undergraduate Admissions Office](http://blogs.cornell.edu/admissions/2011/09/02/early-decision/)

Is it true that Cornell would receive my SAT II scores 1-2 days before they are officially declared?

(I gave the Nov. 2 SAT II)

Does Cornell confirm with us whether or not they received the Nov. scores? I mean, I get it’s not guaranteed to be processed, but a confirmation would be nice.

I also gave the nov sat. When u open ur cornell account, it lists ur highest scores across each section. I think u should see an update there. Not sure.

Also, is it possible that cornell considers the writing section but just doesnt publish it? Cuz someone on CC said that one school says it doesnt consider the writing and on its self service page only showed the highest math and highest CR score. Cornells self service page also shows the highest Writing score

Did anyone get contacted for an interview? I got an email from someone saying that he’d like to schedule a local meeting in consideration of my ED application. I thought cornell only had interviews for CAAP and SHA though for undergrads?

I asked about SAT writing at the ILR info session and was told that ILR defiantly does consider writing.

@ bubbless it’s probably an informal meeting through cornell alumni association or whatever.

They can vary a lot, when I showed up, my guy didn’t even say anything, he just asked if i had any questions - and I didn’t - which was kind of awkward.

That being said, I’d definitely go as going indicates that you’re more interested in the school which would make them more inclined to accept you if they were worried about something like that.

Well darn haha. And I thought I escaped the interview, even though the alumni meeting isn’t really an interview. What’s the dress code?

Somewhat informal. People that went last year said they went business casual. I plan to go in khakis and a polo.

Bubbles888- which college did you apply to, and if you don’t mind answering, what state are you from?
