Geez people you produce new pages like a machine ;)

Thank you guys for being so supportive! It’s great to hear that I’m not alone in this and we’re all going through the same process & problems. @Brouhahah, wow, nice job on the SAT! @Lolface849, I think the fact that you’re applying again is a pretty clear message to Cornell about how much you love it @Vandire, I’m from Eastern Europe. I can tell you are not European yourself because of the way you named some of the countries, am I right? I can totally understand you. I personally don’t have a problem with pronounciation, but that’s just because languages are my thing.

Okay, I just looked at the statistics page and found out that in 2013, ILR accepted exactly two international first time freshmen. Two. TWO!!!
But how?..
…someone hug me.

I get the distinct impression that engineering fields are about to get flooded with freshmen. Maybe it’s just a case of common response where a person with interest in computers is more likely to go on this forum and apply to an engineering school. Regardless, I’ve seen far more CoE applicants on here than should be statistically possible.

Alright, it’s actually about enrollment, not acceptance (yeah).
Though it does not change the ILR’s situation too much because its yield is around 75%.

Yet another ENG applicant here, although I applied for Mechanical Engineering… Maybe the increase of applicants (especially for computer science,) is due to the 2014 completion of the Bill and Melinda Gates Hall. Although I do agree that there might be a disproportionate number of ENG applicants on this thread.

Perhaps that year they had a surplus of international freshman applying…? I don’t know, but I’m sure that you have the same fighting chance as anyone else. So relax.

Oh, and yeah, I’m not from Europe. Never stepped foot in Europe actually. What’s it like there?

Alright. I’ve checked through previous year’s threads, and I’m going to tell you that it doesn’t matter. The financial details or lack thereof mean nothing.

The only time that you’ll know accepted/deferred/denied is when you actually get the decision Monday, December 16th at 5:00 PM eastern time.

Don’t fret it.

Mechanical engineering’s fascinating, and I wish you the best of luck with it. I think that most people are incredibly tech-unsavvy. So the types likely to know about this forum and do more than just lurk are the type that’re probably applying to CS, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.

But you might be right. The new center might play a role too. I personally think that it’s a blend of both reasons, plus a few facets we’ve not considered.
