Official Cornell Early Decision Class of 2018

^ How can anyone know for sure? But it’s after the fact so it doesn’t affect the ED selections.

Haha, right. My bad.

okay thank you I’ve just heard of some schools releasing the amount saying “applications are up 10%” or something

@themoonchild- I haven’t yet seen numbers for Cornell’s ED, but the following blog has posted some numbers for other schools. I’m anticipating more ED applicants this year for Cornell. In 2011 there were 3456, in 2012- 3609, and 2013 - 4193.

Only 6 more days!! What are you guys going to do after school until decision time? Gotta think of a good way to distract ourselves haha

how hard is it to get into the apparel design major in the human ecology school?

and has anyone else applied to this program?

how good are 1540 (740 math), 8002 math2 and physics, 52 ap calc bc and phy c mech for international applicant to coe cs?

@slipshod I’m applying from America with pretty much those exact same scores, but I’m not sure how the standards vary for international…

So on my financial aid to-do list on the applicant website, it says that I still need to submit the student’s prior year tax returns. I submitted both my parents’ and mine simultaneously on the file uploader on Cornell’s website. It is stating that my parent’s were received but that mine was not I guess. Should I call, e-mail or let it be? I submitted all of the documents Saturday November 30th.

do you guys think showing an upward trend in your grades if your freshman year was bad will help? :|

@slipshod, you have really great stats for an international student because admission officers lower their expectations of SATs (several universities that came to my school told us that)

@stargirl25 Definitely! I had bad grades Freshman year too due to unfortunate circumstances, leading to crazy growth. There are many threads of people like this being accepted and surprised.

@hippoman13 haha that makes me feel a bit better thanks ^.^

I’m applying to CoE with Information Sciences listed as my intended major. I actually took a class specifically about this at my school. The problem is that this class ate up 6 credits in two years, and because of that I was incredibly limited in the number of APs I could take.

I got a CCENT certification (fairly difficult) and my SATs and ACTs are pretty good 1550 (780 Math) and 34 (34 Math and 36 Sci), but I’m worried that this class ate up too much of my schedule. I didn’t have room for AP phsyics, so I self-studied for the subject test and got a 760. I didn’t have time to double up on math classes (my school district adds a useless level of algebra between 1 and 2 that’s mandatory) so I had to take the Math 1 test where I got a 760. I actually wrote my essay about how I chose to go for something I wanted to learn rather than taking APs for the sake of APs, but of course I can’t help but think that admissions would have preferred the standard route.

will an.sat of 1180 (m+cr) and sat 2(math1 660 chem 690) considered?. from rural africa…no prep classes no prep materials.no money to retake… gpa 82/84 rank 5/227 one of the best schools in Kenya

Same happened to me,

Except my statement was recieved and not my parents’. Gonna re upload it today :/

Those who have been asked to submit their financial aid forms etc I think they have a reason to believe that they’ll get in. I mean, the financial aid office would only look into financial details of a student once he has got in, wouldn’t they? (not implying that those receiving notifications will be the only one to get in)

@Kigzcorp, of course it will be considered. Whether you’ll get accepted or not depends on many more factors than just that. I cross my fingers for you.

So I was talking to my counselor today to ask if he got prompted for my first quarter grades, he said no. From what ive read on this thread, and even he told me, Cornell asks the grades for kids they are unsure about or are on the fence about. So either my app was really good, or really bad. Right?

I dont think it was THAT bad  anyone else who wasnt prompted for first quarter grades? And who was?
