[/ul]Reflection[list]

[] Strengths:
[] What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself: I took an intellectual course: I talked about my excellence in finance and math, and about how I attend hackathons every now and then for fun. I really stayed away from the “we want to get to know who you truly are inside”. Lets face it: everyone’s probably changed themselves enough in high school to have lost what was “truly” inside.
[] Weaknesses: Essay… I think. I talked about wall street and Elon Musk
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My application was altogether very good, and my sister goes there also.
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Penn State
[] Your “Big Red” factor - the most unique thing in your application: I know loads about Wall Street. CNBC is like the only thing on my tv, and that’s all my parents ever seem to talk about. A bit sad actually.

@atrip2018 I just want to point out that Cornell is need blind for all students, not just Indians.

Strengths:ACT, extra-curriculars, recs
What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself: Music and Medicine; I was excited about Cornell in my essays, and made sure to look like a nice kid… a school’s campus is like a town, you’re not gonna want a-holes living in your town.

Teacher Recommendation: got a lot, I used the ones I read. I know my newspaper teacher mentioned me being like a daughter to her and I teared up. I tried to chose teachers who knew more personally and had more experience working with me with my strengths so they’d be cool.
Counselor Rec: I didn’t get to read it, but I asked her to please mention how much school I missed due to my autoimmune.
Additional Rec: none
Interview: none

Other
Applied for Financial Aid?: yep
Intended Major: Fine Arts, urban studies as a second.
State (if domestic applicant): MI
Country (if international applicant): USA
School Type: public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Income Bracket:
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.):

I had a lot of unresolved issues of autoimmune during my sophomore year, I did really poorly. I was put on immunosuppressant’s, hormone treatment, and a new diet at the end of the year, which was very rough physically, emotionally and mentally for me. I also had surgery this past summer, which has allowed me to function a lot better. Basically talked in an additional letter about why and how stuff happened. I don’t want to be seen as sappy and i definitely dont want to sell myself by what hinders me in my life. but, I wanted to state what occurred and how my recovery is going to allow a greater understanding of my application.
Reflection

Strengths: Essay!! Letters of recommendation, portfolio (I hope)
What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself: my experiences and growth in life, and how I try to express that through art. Honestly, I just tried to express what I express through my artwork also;
Weaknesses: GPA!! (I was a 2.7 end of my sophomore year. I dragged it up to a 3.4 after my second trimester of this year)
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:

I feel like i don’t have enough academic affinity to actually succeed. While I focus more in art, and I know I would be able to succeed there, my gpa and track record is not that wonderful. Getting deferred was a huge shocker.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:

Accepted: Western Michigan university, university of Vermont, champlain college, SAIC, RISD, University of Massachusetts Amherst (scholarships at all)

Waitlisted: University of Michigan, Northeastern (rejected later). U of M I know I’ll be rejected, they flat out stated its because of my gpa.

Your “Big Red” factor - the most unique thing in your application: Essay.

lot of people dont post their work and i will delete soon, but

What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself: Giving back to community.

Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:Accepted- UF Honors, College of William and Mary, Fordham, FSU, USF. Waitlisted-UVa. Rejected- Cornell, UPenn, Dartmouth
