Ugh. I hate waiting. I’m so nervous. I’d feel devastated if I didn’t get in!

@APushed96 so am I! I’m so nervous and anxious. I haven’t even been sleeping well at night, it’s just stressing me out even when I’m not thinking about it.

It is all going to be okay guys. I am nervous too, but trying think that it is not going to be end of the world and I will work hard to succeed in life no matter what. Getting in would be a very fortunate BONUS. That is how I try to think but nevertheless I still end up being nervous when admission day is around the corner. So, I guess the nervousness is inevitable! Sorry to say :P

@mistanervous Well that is expected after reading your username! But joking aside, yeah @agg999 is correct. Rather than taking Xanax, we should realize it isn’t the end of the world if we don’t get in. But I think a bubble will burst inside me. I anticipate rejection, so I am only counting the days. Hopefully Cornell will weigh my EC and recs very strongly, because I only show strong interest in science and engineering.

On another note, my 64 year old teacher who wrote my rec told me to “Shut up and stop worrying.” So I guess I will take his advice.

@APushed96 hmm… looks like one mad teacher wrote a rec for you. lol he is prob. kidding

Yeah, I know that I can (not necessarily WILL, that is up to me) be successful even without Cornell, but I have become so incredibly attached to the school that it’s just going to break my heart when I get rejected.

Aw, don’t think like that! Just try to distract yourself as much as possible. When I was waiting on ED, I would get insanely nervous, even though the head of the undergrad physics department said there was no way I wouldn’t get in. Nerves are like that. But, anyways, take a minute whenever you get too worked up: sit down, take a deep breath, SMILE (really, even if you don’t feel like it, do; it’ll help), and remind yourself about all the opportunities that are in front of you right now, regardless of cornell.

Hey, I am parent, so hope you don’t mind my sharing my thoughts as corny as they may sound. I know the stress at this time can be enormous. But I am a big believer that wherever you are meant to be, you will end up. My personal story is that I wanted to go to one college, but ended up at another. I ended up meeting my now husband on the first day of school (we didn’t date until 2 yrs later). My older son received very good advice from a college student who said don’t get married to a school because fate may have something else in store. I wish you all the best.

What does a likely letter say?

@Julieannab

Congrats on your acceptance! It must have felt great to hear that from the department head I’m going for undergrad physics too, maybe I’ll see you there :)

@CMA1

That’s a nice way to look at it. Thank you for the kind words.

Anyone have Cornell on top of their list if they were to get in? Cornell is pretty “up there” on my list and considering the fact that out of all the other schools I applied to, Cornell is the least hardest to get into and still yet among the hardest in the country! If I were to get in, I would be thrilled!! It is nice to know that Cornell is great with financial aid and is willing to match other peer schools’ offers I believe (I think it says somewhere they match all the Ivies, Duke, MIT, Stanford or something).

@matrixsurgeon Cornell is my TOP 2, with other being USC. As of today, I got accepted at Syracuse, Maryland College Park, Bentley, Penn State, and SMU.

@matrixsurgeon Cornell is my top choice after CMU (SCS)

@matrixsurgeon It’s definitely my number one choice. I applied to several top schools, but if I get in to Cornell, and get enough financial aid, I’d definitely go.

Rejected from Caltech. A part of me is destroyed because I know that means a hard chance of getting into Cornell. :-(

APushed96, Don’t be down, you never know what will happen. My oldest son was deferred then rejected by Columbia but ended up attending and graduating from Princeton. Other son was waitlisted at Tufts, accepted to Cornell. =)

I disagree. Caltech is mostly at another level than Cornell. Maybe not once you get there, but getting in.

Hey has anyone recently got into ILR or Hotel from the Midwest? No one in Chicago seems to have heard anything by mail…

I applied to arts and sciences. Anyone know when letters for those are going out?

@iloverainbowsyo
All Ivy League Schools including Cornell (with exception of SHA and ILR) release decisions online on March 27th this year. If they send out physical letters on that day, it will reach you in the time it takes to ship I am guessing.
