Official Cornell RD Class of 2018

@Conscience13
I applied to CAS. What they did for many regions was have interview sessions where they brought anywhere from 5-10 alums to a certain school and told applicants around the region to come and do a 30-minute informational interviews. They get through a lot of applicants in one day this way, and it’s easier for the alums.

Does anyone know how popular operations research engineering is? I applied for it but I’m not sure how competitive it is compared to other engineering disciplines.

I applied to CAS, but didn’t get an interview.

CAS doesn’t offer interviews.

I have a 2390 and Cornell is my top choice! I’m praying for a likely letter!

Do likely letters come by mail or email? Just curious, not that I will ever get one!

I believe by e-mail!

And APushed, don’t say that! You never know. For Cornell, they care a lot about passion/fit to the school.

My D applied to CAS and she had an informational session with an alum.

It seems like a lot of applicants didn’t get alumni interviews

I also had an “informational session” with an alum who luckily turned out to be from the same college that I am applying to!! It was refreshing to see someone that had similar unique goals in mind for an undergraduate education. We talked about everything from the social life at Cornell to the beauty of the campus as well as other topics.

@SickofApps …Thank You!

Hi everyone - I applied RD to ILR… and just found out that those decisions come out earlier than the other schools and am now FREAKING out! Can anyone tell me if I should expect an email or mail letter, and when I should expect to receive them… Thanks!

Applied to Human Ecology (Fiber Science and Apparel Design). Accepted at PennSt (Liberal Arts), Bentley, Syracuse (Liberal Arts-Economics) so far. Did an interview. I really wish I get accepted to Cornell! Is there a chance we would hear back earlier than the March 27th date?

@nirvana1995
No chance at all we hear back earlier than the March 27th date unless the entire Ivy League gets together and changes the date which I don’t see happening right in the middle of application process (similar to sports team rivals in the middle of the playoffs). The Ivy League is very peculiar about their structure and rules and the two things that are practically untouchable is one the Likely Letter system and two the Common Reply Date.

*Obviously ILR and Hotel at Cornell are the exception.

@nirvana1995
Well, or unless you get a likely letter. Idk if Human Ecology sends likelies though. I’m pretty sure CAS and Engineering do.

@nirvana1995 did you recieve the thank-you HumEc letter in the mail?

@Girlygirl22 I got a letter that said they received all the materials I needed to send. If that is the thank-you letter, then yes.

@ojeshsh I don’t think I got a likely letter, I have no idea what that is either.

@matrixsurgeon Oh well! Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
