Official Dartmouth RDers 2014 thread!

Yes :D

10char

But most of the accepted won’t receive likelies, right?

Correct. 10 char

Does anyone know how far is Dartmouth campus from the “White River Junction train station, VT”? I really want to come to Dimensions but found out that I won’t be able to get a ride that week:( I checked the directions on the Dartmouth visiting page, which told me that I can take the train from NY to that train station. But the problem is, once I get there, how I am suppose to arrive on campus?

Calico: if you live in NYC I’d look into the Dartmouth Coach. It drops off directly on campus. [Dartmouth Coach: Connecting Upper Valley to Boston, Logan Airport, Stamford, CT, and New York City](http://www.dartmouthcoach.com) if you’re coming from elsewhere/ if the train is much cheaper etc… you can catch a cab from WRJ to campus. Probably about 10 miles. The AT (advanced transit) bus system might go there too. I’m not sure on that one though. If so the AT is free.

^Thanks spunaugle! I think I’ll take the train, since I don’t live in NYC and the coach is kind of expensive, or I’ll just have to come visit another time instead.

xrCalico,

Do you live in the tri-state area? I would recommend contacting admissions. Dartmouth usually has buses from NYC (usually arond the Penn Station Area) to take students to Dimensions (there will be a nominal fee). So if you can get to Pann station, you can catch the Dartmouth bus. I know that the bus also stops somewhere in Ct (admissions can tell you this).

hope this helps

^That would be perfect because I can get to Penn Station easily. Thanks, this is really helpful.

Bump, less than a month =]

are people still getting interview requets at this point?

Dartmouth likely letter! I’m guessing the final mid-march wave of letters is around now. I did my interview at the very beginning of March so I guess it’s possible that some people are still interviewing.

LL arrived today, so I guess I don’t need to frequent this thread anymore. I’m sure some of you are HY cross applicants, so see you around.

QUESTION: Is Dartmouth moving their decision day to April 1st at 5 PM? Because according to a thread on Princeton and Harvard, both of them are moving their decisions until April 1st at 5 PM, instead of March 31st…Do they do this every year (even when decisions come out March 31st) or will we really have to wait? And does anyone know if Dartmouth is doing this as well?

I got a LL dated Feb 19th. I wasn’t sure I could afford to go to dimensions but they sent me an email saying that I qualify for a free trip!! i’m totally surprised

wombat, did you request financial assistance?

i live in california, way across the country. i want to go, but plane tickets are expensive :frowning: and i want to know if there’s any possibility they pay for my ticket?

i don’t think i qualify for financial aid, even though i applied for it.

^The free trip offer email was sent out to people who applied for financial aid and whose family income is under $75,000. But still, I would call them and ask - Dartmouth seems really generous with financial aid, so you never know! On the email there was a phone number that one is supposed to call to accept the “free trip” offer. If you want, I can go look up the number and PM it to you…

got my likely letter last week!! so excited…can’t wait to visit in April.

when is Dimensions anyway?

just wanted to know anyone has their status updated like this by Dartmouth "
We are now in the final stages of our decision making process, and will soon be notifying you of our decision on your candidacy. Please note: the notification process is paperless. Matriculation information will be sent to admitted students, but we will not be mailing paper decision letters. Your decision letter will be posted on this page after 5 pm Eastern Time on Thursday, April 1. It will be available until April 15" what do u think of this? Thanks

I have that too… oh goodness i hope its good news at 5 PM on April 1st. Dartmouth is where I want to be, but I’m worried because I listed “Environmental Engineer” under my career plans on the common app…but Dartmouth doesn’t offer that major, but they offer Env. Sciences and Engineering physics… I still hope they accept me. Its my dream school.
