Official December 10th ACT Science Discussion

Post your thoughts on the science section here...

what were the questions about the cars moving towards and away from each other?

I’ll start… it was impossible. Like. Honestly. I M P O S S I B L E !

Someone posted in the general discussion that + was away and - was toward for the cars, but since it was relative to the individual car which the value was given for, I think it is the opposite. The car was the relative point, not the track.

Man, I can’t believe I forgot how to do 4 by 4 phenotypes.(or at least not under the time pressure) Does anyone remember the questions/answers regarding the chickens?

Also, with the movement of a car in five seconds, did it move 10 meters?

i got 10 meters

for thephentype one i remember getting a bunch of J/Ds… and i also put 10 meters

For the chickens, I remember putting single for an answer. But that’s it…
And I also got 10 meters for the movement of a car in five seconds.
Did anyone understand the crazy CaCO3 thing???

which question for CaCO3, off the top of my head i just remember that X had a great % of CaCO3

the phenotypes I guessed and did like RRrr x rrPP , figuring that two dominants in each would maybe do it. have no idea though (I learned it 3 years ago). And caco3 a few were easy but i had trouble with the three last ones. I put solution x was greater though

anyone get 10m, RRpp rrPP (or whatever the letters were), experiment 5 for the for the car one and experiemnt 4 for another car question and did anyone get -4 m/s for another

also did anyone get Substance X for that one NOT THE CEMENT substance but the other one with 87% CaCO3?

Single and 0% were two of the answers I believe. 0% because they were all recessive alleles and can not produce walnut which needs a dominant allele

can anyone confirm like 4 J/Ds for the chicken section or some passage towards the middle?

did you guys get away and towards for the car one?

i dont remember exactly but i thought it was away for the first and toward for the second. i could easily be wrong tho

I did get RR… x …PP for that one under the same reasoning. There was one more genetics question…

I think it was, what would be the phenotype of the walnut chicken produced from parents I can’t remember. I don’t think it’ll be much help to me if someone posts the answer because I completely forgot what I chose anyway.

yes there were like 4d/js in a row can someone check my answer above?

The whole test was easy except for the science portion. First time taking the ACT and I read the science passages. Bad idea. Had to guess on like 10. I got a 1340/1600 on the SAT first time, no studying, so I hope I can get a 30 on the ACT. Not liking my chances, though.

Science was insane! So hard.

yes very true
