Official December SAT I Forum

I'm probably wrong, but for the question asking about the "initial" response of the two girls, I said that they both acted like they didn't need a friend or something. At first, I couldn't decide, so my reasoning was that "initially" both kinda turned away, making it seem like they didn't need friends.

Did anyone else get this?

oh, and does anyone remember the wording to the "emphatic" question?

Another question...Does anyone remember a sc about some kids and their mom and the answer being "mollified" (That's what I picked anyways)

i picked mollified too!

Don't know if the ven diagram one was discussed before. Was the answer 7 or 10? I thought they were asking for sections Y and Z exclusively.

For the CR, what was the answer for purpose of the 2 theories about Venus? Was it D: giving 2 distinct theories, or B: romanticizing about Venus? I chose B because it seemed like the theories were really idealistic. D was too much of a no-brain answer.

To Ihope, I chose that the girls were appraising each other. I kinda forgot why tho.

The first paragraph after the introductory segment described the suggestion of a theor(ies) about the conditions of Venus and then some things that could be plausible. The following paragraph justified why this is incorrect because of scientific evidence from the probe or whatever.

I don't remember what I put but I didn't get idealism.

Anyone remember the dry humor/factual observation one? What was the answer?

I put dry humor because of his described cynicism. :confused: Anyone? Or am I incorrect?

i put dry humor too

Man these answers are annoying me I'm looking at a <700 math and maybe another 720 in critical reading. The only one I did really well on (it seems) is writing, which I was already fine with :( My only hope is the experimental section—hopefully mine wasn't a writing; it seemed as if I had one too many math sections.

And I put mollified.

my answers:
dry humor
mollified
initial respone of girls = met w/ caution
(i remember it said the girl w/ the jump rope 'appraised' the protagonist, appraise = measure, estimate; so they checked each other out at first, cautiously)

i'm still not so sure about that initial meeting question..

but also, was one of the answer choices to the "mercurial" question, "placable" or somthing, cause if there was, I missed it.

and does anyone remember the writing about scientists tending to favor supporting works?

mercurial was the right answer, it means constantly changing

The thing with the dry humor question was that his statement wasn't very ironic or sarcastic. The question was so ambiguous.

for the disputed 1.6 question, it was as follows:
u had a sugar cube looking diagram
each side of each square = k
perimeter = area
and there were a total of 10 squares
the question asked for the value of k, and the perimeter was 16k, the area = 10k^2
16k = 10k^2
16 = 10k
k = 1.6

I got 1.6 too and dry humor on that verbal question. bucolic is also right, for sure...

I thought verbal was easy, writing was kinda hard and ambigous on some multiple choice, math was easy except for the first grid-in which was monstorously hard!!! can someone please calm me down and tell me it was definitely experimental? It was harder than the other grid-in section and the other math sections... by a lot.

I got 1.6 as well.

aszx5527, my examples were pretty much similar to your- reform movements of Martin Luther King Jr,. the governmental issues-Constitution and the developments of the scientific theories.

For those who had the CR experimental, did you have the telephone question?

The one that was like...

If telephone A costs $1.00 per minute up to 20 minutes and $.07 per minute aferwards and if B costs $.06...what is the value of t minutes?

Thanks.
(hoping that you did have this question :p)
