* Hook (if any): none

[ b]Location/Person:**

* State or Country: Bahrain
* School Type: Private
* Ethnicity: Indian
* Gender: male
* Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: Strong numbers, recs/ crap essays, lots of EC's, but no special recognition in any. Also didn't put down a lot of stuff i'd done (didnt know where to put them)

 • Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: Essays must have weakened my case a lot, but the other people here are awesome and got deferred so it seems a crapshoot anyway. Oh well.

Congrats to everyone that got in!

Um, has anyone else NOT gotten an email? Or been able to get on the "Check Application Status" website?

Was there a deadline, after which we couldn't change our request for email notification? Because initially I said no email, and then I changed it. Perhaps it was too late?

*Decision: A C C E P T E D *

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT I: M: 800, CR: 800, WR: 780 (from two sittings)
[] SAT IIs: Lit.: 790, Math II: 730, World Hist.: 750
[] ACT: Cum.: 35 (all 35 except for English w/ Writing: 32)
[] GPA: 98.355, 3.975
[] Rank: 5 of 545
[] Other stats: 5s on 4 APs (Lang., Human Geo., World Hist., U.S. Hist.) and 4s on 3 APs (Physics B, Macroecon, U.S. Gov.), Georgia Governor's Honors program 2005 (Comm. Arts), All-State clarinet (8-11th), I have a positive attitude
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: very unique topic, colorful language, aprox. 500 words. I also wrote a supplementary essay about how I have grown through my brother's autism (I cried while writing the essay because it was a very painful topic for me to write about), they were honest.
[] Teacher Recs: they were honest and very thoughtful
[] Counselor Rec: Great. I took the time to get to know the counselor and also provided her with a description of my background/ influences so she could get a better idea of who I was. She wrote me a great recommendation and really rooted for me. It was only her second year as a high school counselot so I was a little nervous at first but once I showed her my enthusiam, she was more than happy to help me. :-) She wrote about how much self-initiative showed.
[] Hook (if any): grew up in somewhat unique environment (autistic younger brother), sent in a homemade resume, sincerity, plays clarinet well, I sometimes don't do my homework, I really love books, I am lucky.
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: GA
[] School Type: public (sends only a few to top schools)
[] Ethnicity: korean (!)
[] Gender: Female
[] Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: strengths: sincerity, enthusiasm, down-to-earth, actual growth, good attitude, first generation college student. Weaknesses: bad handwriting, sometimes messy, sometimes not thorough
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: sincerity. not afraid to take risks. not afraid of failing. not afraid to try. not afraid of being laughed at. I'm a good loser ^_^. I tried to really show that I went to school because I wanted to learn and not to win or to be #1. I wanted to show that I didn't mind losing along the way. I think they also saw that I was very independent.
[/ul]Other Factors:
I did activities that I enjoyed? Marching Band section leader and captain. I had leadership positions in clubs that I really enjoyed being in. A lot of awards for Latin (NLE & State Convention). I used a fee waiver.
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:

My mom cried and told me how proud she was. I'm still a little woozy from the shock and I still have trouble believing it. Ah . . . I feel weird and tired. I very thankful for my everyone (family and friends) who believed in me. I didn't even dream of applying to Harvard until very recently (end of 11th grade). Today was just a very, very surprising day for me. I feel so light-headed. I feel sick. Ah . . . I'm gourmandizing on exotic teas and hot chocolate. I feel like I've lost my mind. :-) It's a relief!

ah, subrosianspyder, I'm so happy for you!
