I’m applying CIT, and i’ve received nothing yet. Anyone apply CIT get letter or anything online?

I screwed everything up. Entire Application in but “where am I in the process page” says I’m missing the SAT score reports, both reasoning and subject tests.
No “Application complete” post, yes “Folder pulled” post, and today they added “Followup Letter” under sent documents. I just resent the score reports from college board site with rush processing.

Any chance of getting in? or will I probably be deferred or denied?

I would call them tomorrow and see what happened. Did you send the SAT scores before or did you forget? If you applied ED I this could be a problem but for ED II it’s not a mistake that would cost you admission.

I found about CIT ECE Tuesday morning after midnight.

redsoxrule-same here
I found out about CIT ECE after midnight EST

Hmmm, did anyone not get their letter yet? Mine has still not come. What is in it?

I was accepted into ECE.

they only consider you for your first choice college through ED

Finally got my letter in the mail today. So excited :D

I know someone who applied ED and did not have all their materials in. I’m sorry to say that he was denied.

I feel obligated to let you guys know that scores and GPA mean less to CMU than most schools. I was accepted last year, and the president gave a long speech during orientation regarding the school’s rejection of many candidates with higher scores than us. He said that character matters more to CMU than grades and test scores.

This is just a primer for those of you who think your scores and grades guarantee you admissions. A lot of people were disappointed last year because they were rejected when someone with lower scores was accepted.

I agree my scores were not even close but I think my diverse activities and leadership paid off.

After you all applied, how long did it take to get a password to check the status of your application?

I had all my apps in on Oct 23 and my teacher recs in by Nov 3 (postmarked before that). CMU processed all my materials on Nov 18 and they mailed everything to be that same day. I got it a few days later. Hope this helps and good luck.

how do you know when cmu receives your enrollment deposit.

just an update on my situation from earlier, I checked the where am I in the process site and I got in! I did do some phonecalling, ect.

I understand this completely, but how much would you have to include in order to stand out against everyone else if your scores aren’t as high as everyone else’s?

The fact is, my scores aren’t as high as most of my friends’, and I seemed to have slacked off a little during my early years in high school, but I’d definitely be willing to give everything in college, especially in CMU, since CMU’s environment entices me very much. I’m also very understanding, but I should probably stop trying to sell myself here.

I’ve been checking this site for a while to see if anyone’s heard back, so I could figure out when I should be expecting THE letter.

I received my acceptance letter to SCS today, so I thought I’d share that with the rest of you who are waiting impatiently for their EDII results.

I live right by Baltimore, MD, about 5 or so hours south of Pittsburgh. On the “Where am I in the Process?” page, it said they sent a Financial Aid reminder on the 5th, which I’m assuming is the same thing. So that’s 4 days, which is longer than usual, but PA also got hit with a bunch of snow this week, too.

Here’s a brief overview of my stats for all you people who want to compare:

SAT:
CR: 750
MA: 700 (somewhat low for SCS…)

WS: 800

2250

SATII:
MAII: 790
PHY: 720

Valedictorian in a school not known for its academics. 12 or so AP classes taken, with 4s and 5s on all the tests. 5s in the ones that matter (Calc BC, CS A, CS AB). The rest were honors and Post-AP. (Calc-III, Linear Algebra)

Lots of ECs, mainly music related. Concert, marching, jazz, etc. Also the Academic Team, Math Team, and Chess Club. For leadership, I am president of Tri-M Music Honor Society and CS Club. I’m also VP of NHS, section leader, and 1st chair saxophone in All-County Concert and Jazz band. A few community service things, but nothing too significant.

My essays, if I do say so myself, were great. The Common App one was about how as someone entering CS, I’m a “heretic” because I’m in love with jazz. I can do the logical and methodical in CS, but am still capable of spontaneous passion and creativity through jazz music. Great images, metaphors, etc. My supplement one was fairly well-written as well.

I hope this helps some of you as you wait anxiously for that letter to come. Good luck!

Congrats man! You must feel on top of the world right now. I guess I will be seeing you next year :)

Have any of the EDI international students recieved their decision letter in the mail yet?

Rejected from SCS

I’m bummed but I don’t feel near as badly as I thought I would. Maybe I’m just in shock and it will hit me later, lol. Class rank definitely was what kept me out, everything else was good or excellent.

SATs:
CR: 730
M: 740
W: 800

SAT IIs:
M2: 800
Chem: 680
USH: 770

GPA: 3.5 (but 3.9 with CMU’s recalculating algorithm)
Class rank: 14/54 at the best public school in my state (which isn’t saying a whole lot in New Hampshire but it’s still worth something)
Big upward trend. B average in 9th and tenth grade, all As in 11th and 12. My somewhat poorer grades in 9th and 10th grade I attributed to debilitating hearing loss (because of an infection) that I suffered from back then and noted that the upward trend began immediately after I underwent surgery

Did one sport every year. No real distinction.
Community service is sub-par but not that bad.
Teacher recs were ridiculously good. One teacher said I he’d call me, without hesitation, the best student he’s ever had. The other was only slightly less glowing.
Essay was good.

Have been working on an open-source neuroscience workbench for half a year and have co-authored published articles about it.
Two years of employment.

ECs as a whole were above average.

Don’t think I missed anything.

Oh well.
