i just randomly checked OPUS and my decision letter was available. i had no idea when Emory was releasing it.

Is jmw the only ED applicant posting on CC that has been selected as semifinalist to ESP?

On the facebook page for Emory Class of 2012 (all ED people so far), I noticed a person or two claiming they had also made it, or didn't make it. But as far as on college confidential goes, I think I'm the only one so far.

(I had actually worried that perhaps ED put me at a disadvantage because Emory has no incentive to entice me with money, since I'm going anyways.)

[*] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Honestly I don't know.

reply to rodney - I was accepted EDI (not II) sorry for the confusion - still have not heard anything regarding scholars!!

Has anybody tried calling Emory and asking if OPUS was not updated saying they got semifinalist, does it mean that they definitely did not get it? I would imagine that that is the case and people not getting emails is some sort of technical problem. I know that I was accepted after not getting anything on OPUS, however I was a bit of a special case since unlike most people, I applied EDI and was already in Emory.

Decision: REJECTED.

Official letter of Congratulations as a ES Semifinalist and Invite to join the class of 2012 just arrived. Along with the letter is a video and Admissions packet containing the acceptance agreement, deposit card, transcript release form, credit policies and LearnLink Q & A's.

yep got the same thing in the mail today

I was accepted as a semifinalist and will post my info later. I'm 1) outrageously impressed/terrified with a lot of your scores and 2) curious when the ACTUAL date is for finding out the final decision.

I think I read something about February 15. Is that right or is it the end of February?

According to CC, finalists were notified on February 15 last year. But who know what it will be this year... hopefully earlier, since we were notified of semifinalist 3 days earlier this year than last.

Yaaaay, I made Semi-finalists

Unbelievable cause My SAT are poop compared to anybody else who posted T.T
700M 690CR 650W
<4.0 GPA
RANK:7/743 (MCHS: biggest HS in GA)
Profuse work experience

I don't know what the criteria is for selection, but I think essay and consistent improvement in grades are really important. It might also help that I am from Nigeria and wrote about my experiences in my essay and my recommendations pretty much said I am the best student ever.

But I certainly do not think it is SATs that determine selection because if it was, my application would have met the recycle bin quickly.

I am sure all the people who were denied are shoo-ins at the Ivy Leagues, but it really sucks that such high scores can be denied.

Yea, I officially got my letter today! Nothing much more than OPUS
