What’s BMEN? haha :[

im guessing its Bio Medical Engineering

I just sent in my final transcript for this year for Transfer to UT General Studies. I was a music major at OCU for freshmen year and am changing my major, but not sure to what yet. My question is do you think that they look at the individual semesters??? I had a 2.9 my first semester with 17 hours and then a 3.5 my second semester with 17 hours. So I’m bummed that my overall GPA is still sitting at a 3.2…what does anyone think

you need a 3.4-5

you might get in

What was the actual final decision statement when you checked your status?

You don’t “need” any gpa besides the minimum 3.0. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis depending on excruciating circumstances etc. However, a higher gpa does help.

ms, we all know that you need a 3.4 to have a shot. Unless of course your a CAP student

actually…both of you are right to a certain extent. Even with a GPA in the lower 3.0 region you can still get in with extremely strong essays and letters of rec. But at the same time the general rule for acceptance is 3.4/3.5++

So any updates for anyone?
I am still anxiously awaiting a decision. They have now had my spring transcript for a full week, and still nothing. :/

pierrechn - It does sound very interesting. I had some AP credit that I used to get some of the core classes away.

thaisteak - Yeah, it’s Biomedical Engineering

Same here UThopeful11. Omgg, UT finally received my transcript from A&M last Friday, but no updates are on the page saying that they are reviewing my application. We should hear soon, though

Mine has said that they are reviewing my application for the past week.
Just curious but why are you transfering from A&M?

Awww, when did UT actually receive your transcript? :/

A lot of reasons. I never wanted to go to A&M in the first place. Not really a good place for pre-meds. Small town. Weird/dumb traditions. Nothing to do, boring. Etc. I just want out.

They received my transcript on the 19th and I think I remember everything changing that day. If not everything for sure changed to reviewing my application on the 20th. My guess is that I’m one of the last ones in a batch of applictions that are being reviewed or something. Just a theory, I don’t really know how they do the application process.

Well that’s cool I suppose. U actually met somebody through a friend who is also trying to transfer from A&M to UT. I guess I just always thought that everyone who went there loved cstat. Or that is what it seems at least. But I wish you the best of luck on being accepted to UT.

Are you serious? ***, my application still says: “Your application for transfer admission is complete except for the required 30 semester hours of transferable credit. We will not review your application until we receive an official transcript of your current coursework. Please submit an official transcript as soon as possible but no later than June 15.” Transcript “Received 5/21/2010”

Yeah, my roommate at A&M and a couple of his friends didn’t like A&M too and wanted to transfer to UT lol. Ehh, most people who go to A&M like/love it there. I wish you the same luck too.

@ Xcellerator - yea mine said the same thing they first received my final transcripts… about a day later it went away and changed to we are now reviewing ur application and everything is in. I bet UT has your transcripts but they havn’t reached the school of your choice yet. It should change soon. If it doesn’t change it wouldn’t hurt to give them a call.

I’m definitely ready to find out!

Here are my stats…

3.70 overall GPA, 30 hours, coming from Auburn University I am also instate resident. Tons of community service and all that stuff (I honestly think that stuff doesn’t matter to much).
Applying for Civil engineering first choice and Petroleum as second.

Good luck to everyone still patiently waiting just as I am!

It just changed today from you are still needing to send official transcript to we are reviewing everything and it said they received my transcript on 5/20…I’m rly hoping to hear soon!

I see… Well I did apply to BME (Cockrell) first and Biology second. I would guess BME has so few transfers that they would look at that major/school last. Hate this waiting lol. :/

Anyways, you have pretty good stats, mdw2326. Let’s hope we all get in! :D

latexan60 - Thanks. I’ll guess I’ll wait out another day before I call or email them.

@mdw2326 - out of curiousity, what classes are you transferring with? Mind posting?

@ HpAshley2009 - I took Physics 1, Chem 1 (with lab), Calc 1 and 2, Intro to Civil Engr. The rest were less technical GE, English 1 and 2, Core Hist 1, global geog (social science).

Hope that helps!

Apparently I am in the same boat as everyone else here…

I am currently a freshman at Texas A&M University wanting to transfer to UT Austin. My overall GPA for both semesters is a 3.74 and the majors I applied to are (1st) NS-Biology and (2nd) COLA-Anthropology. Chances?? My essays were kind of rushed due to me deciding to for sure apply in the middle of school however I think they are ok considering, also I only had 1 LOR.

HpAshley2009:
the classes I took are Chem 1, Chem 2, Bio 1 (all sciences with labs), PoliSci, English 1 and 2, Psych, Anthro, and got credit for Calc and both Histories by dual credit/AP

As for my status update… it said “You application for admission is complete except for…” for several days after they recieved my transcript so called and the guy on the phone, who wasnt so nice, said it was because my transcript had just got there three days prior. Magically however after my phone call my status changed to “We are reviewing your application for admission…” and now I am anxiously awaiting with everyone else!

Sorry this was so long and good luck to everyone!!
