Bachelors degree in health, physical ed., and exercise science, 3.4 gpa, 3.77 major gpa, 200 hours of clinic experience, 600 more hours will be completed this summer, 2 LORs from head of my department/nurse manager, member of numerous health associations and clubs, took part in international, state, and local professional health conferences, and strong essays. Thats just my college info though, I also put down a lot of high school accomplishments as well (captain of FH and tennis teams, etc). I know my gpa is low, its kind of a shot in the dark, but I am hoping my extracurriculars will help, and the fact I already have a bachelors If i don’t get into UT I am planning on applying to ACC, however I know it is difficult to get into their nursing program too though. Hope this helps!

From what an admissions person has told me I think you have a pretty good shot of getting accepted. He are the stats he gave me:
In Fall 2008- 260 people applied for pre-nursing and 57 got in. That’s a 22% acceptance rate. The average gpa of those admitted was a 3.46.

However these stats are from 2008 so the average gpa could have risen since then and if it has then you may be borderline on getting in. Pre-nursing is pretty competitive and who knows they might wait to find out all of the applicants final gpa’s before telling you whether you are in or not, just a theory for ya.

Accepted to McCombs School of Business a month ago.

From: Brookhaven Community College
GPA: 4.0, 42 hours (Will have 56 hours in a week)
No SAT.

Sorry to those who were denied admissions. There are always alternatives such as internally transferring, waiting another semester for those who applied to schools other than McCombs, and also the opportunity of appealing. Good luck.

@Denu are you on track to graduate in 4 years?

@DenuMx you ARE aware that you need 60 hours in residence to graduate from UT, right?

Can he still finish in 4 years? counting the time at CC

Nope. In order to graduate you MUST complete 60 hours at UT.

but he only has 56 hours? so with the other 60 wouldnt that be 4 years? assuming he got the 56 in 2?

since people typically have 120hours in 4 years

just wondering

ahhhh yes yes. stupid mistake. idk what i was thinking. freaking finals are getting the best out of me.

accepted! 5/10
gpa: 3.4
Out of state
Applied to pre-nursing, but accepted to my second choice, College of Natural Sciences

@vedasultanfus

Congratulations! Did you submit letters of rec? What else was there in your application which you think helped you get in?

thank you! I had two letters of recommendation, one from the head of my program, one from my internship director, had 200 hours of internship work, volunteered, part of many clubs at my current school. I think I was kind of an odd person to apply because I am graduating with my first bachelors this spring, and decided I wanted to go back to school to get my nursing degree. I don’t know if that helped me or not! A bunch more of my info is listed a couple of posts before this! Hope this helps!

@ Pierrechn, I’m majoring in accounting with a minor in government. As far as I know, I am on track. I need less than 59 hours after I complete my summer classes to graduate according to the Interactive Degree Audit. After summer, I’ll have 65 hours(took two years to get). I have yet to speak to an advisor one-on-one though.

@ Msolo45, I am fully aware of the 60 hour rule. I need 120 hours to graduate, 150 to sit for the CPA. I am debating at the moment whether to go for the PPA program, which would get me my bachelors, MPA, and allow me to sit for the CPA (in 3 years rather than 2 years for the normal bachelors). The reason why I am hesitant to accept the program is because I want to go to law school after I graduate. CPA/JD sounds great, but not sure if its worth the time since I want to help people(public service) and perhaps also do corporate law, not tax law.

Thanks for the concerns :).

Anybody who just sent in there spring transcripts hear back yet? I’m pretty anxious.

yea some guy got rejected with a 3.6, i think he applied to LA. It only took a week or so for him to get a decision.

Oh ****. that is not good news…

UPDATE: 1 class didnt transfer so he only had 28 credits.

Ah, I read that in his OP.

That blows, he should get in for Spring

Yeah. He/she should have taken more credits or at least confirmed that the class/course would have transferred…

Well, I just thought I’d say that freakin’ A&M finally sent in my transcript to UT yesterday. Gawwdddd they’re slowwww >.<. Officially have a 3.88 GPA with 42 hours. Applied to BMEN first and Biology second. Hope I get into Biology more than BMEN now lol.

is it me or does BMEN just sound like a cool major? you took alot of hours? or did you have ap credit?
